Four session's in to the Sydney test. And India look like the winners or a draw.Aust victory highly unlikely from this point.Massive storm forming about 300kms off Townsville in the Coral Sea.Looks like a large L front. To far south to form a cyclone. Its blowing to the south west.Reach Sydney late Sunday or Monday.
Aha Tropical Cyclone Penny has reformed. Will miss Qld all together. But still heading SW.

Yes perhaps there is a case IF Warner/Smith had been available. Then again the opening indian batsman who is alledegy the next big thing did his ankle and didnt play at all. Ashwin injured didnt paly in melb or syd, plus people who know cricket better than me, say India have plenty of talent in the wings.

I see Richardson, Behrendorff and Billy Stanlake all included in Australia's ODI squad against India. Those three should give the Indians a bit of curry if you'll excuse the pun.

Yes some good selections there BC, fingers crossed Behrendorff can stay fit because he is a real talent. Siddles selection perplexes me though as he has not played an ODI since 2010. Also the dropping of Lynn, Short and Head. Surely these guys have to be in the mix if we are going to do anything in the world cup this year. Seems like the selectors are making it up as they go along with both test and ODI teams. They seem to be just waiting for the return of Smith and Warner and hope they will fill all the gaping holes that exist at the moment. I will be very surprised if Australia take a game off India who are perhaps an even better in ODIs than 5 day cricket.

This is becoming quite embarrassing now 6 - 603 and the Australians are at the mercy of Kohli if and when he wants to put a stop to the carnage.
This must be getting close to the highest score against an Australian team in this country although I seem to remember that India scored 700 at Sydney in a previous tour. That match ended as a draw I think so that might give the no doubt demoralised Aussies some hope.

Just looked it up, it was Steve Waughs last test in January 2004

India Declared at 7/705 from memory batted into the 3rd day, Tendulkar made 241 and Laxman 178

Australia replied with 474, Langer and Katich both made tons

India declared at 2/211 in their second dig setting Australia 443 to win. The Aussies finished at 6 - 357 saving the game fairly comfortably. Not a great game for bowlers with 1747 runs being made over the 5 days for the loss of 25 wickets at an average of 69 runs per wicket!

That 705 is the highest score ever made by a visiting test team in Australia so the current team will surpass that if they bat for the rest of the day.

Update: scrap that Kohli has just declared.

gtr, bh: they should have beaten us in 1986, and probably under SR Waugh, but they were up against a very good Australian side, and from memory Kumble proved unable to be truely effective at the SCG when they needed him.

Why is Lab.., batting at number three? Surely everyone goes up one if there is a change to the batting order? I hope he is successful but I would hate to play in this team as he is set up to fail

Interesting to read Lyon has bowled the most overs of any test bowler in the 2018 season...by a staggering 70odd overs....and the nearest other Aussie bowler is 190 overs behind....bowls 57 in this innings alone....talk about finding a novel way of killing a GOAT......beggars belief the thinking of the esteemed selectors.....laughable to read Hohns comments regarding the dropping of Short, Lynn and McDermott....for Handscomb, Uzzie and yes Mitch Marsh....the latter 3 are in because the selectors believe they will provide the team with a better chance for providing competitive totals....FMD....Short is the current leading BBL run scorer....Lynn just found his mojo with an 84....and McDermott deserves a further look at....great to see Lyon back as well, he needs the bowl...LOL...would think he deserves more of a rest than the big 3 fast boys do..surely?...

The sooner Hohns and Chappell are farked off and the likes of Ponting and Warne get a selection role the better.....the former two are so past it, it's not funny.....the selectors messages are so contradictory its laughable.......

As for the test match ....the Aussie 2nd spinner bowls only 15 overs in a 600 plus total?....might as well picked Fawad Ahmed....because he would of been more threatening than Labuschagne with ball and most probably the bat too....game on I reckon....that's if it was a 10 day test

Warney would be entertaining as a test selector - Finch captain, Short with a 1st class average of 23 opening the batting.
he would pick guys with the same attention span as him - very short.

Ponting definitely should be a priority for our new Chairman Of Selectors but too many of the greats from recent times are too comfortable in the media to take up such a scrutinised role!
But yes Hohns & Chappell have to go...preferably asap!
