Heard Gareth Parker talking to the boss of Venues West this morning on the West Perth situation. Naturally he defended Venues West and painted a rosy picture of how good WP have got it in regards to the lease of the ground. What wasn't raised was the raw deal WP have had all along up there regarding the use of the club rooms on game day and other fund raising events and food and beverage catering on game day.

I had a chat with someone high up at West Perth a couple of years ago, I think he was CEO or vice president and he said Venues West contract out the catering to one of the big ones, either Compass or Spotless and they then sub contract it out to another catering mob so WP have absolutely no control over it and make zilch from food and beverage on game days.

Any WP supporters care to comment on these arrangements and how it has restricted the clubs revenue raising streams?

WP would of known all the details about the Venues West deal when they agreed to move, if what you say if true then yes it was a shit deal, but WP agreed to it when they moved in.

Whatever the deal was they managed with it for 20+ years - so , yes, does not excuse sweeping the problems under the carpet the last 3 or so.

Understandably members, and even the board, can shakes their fists at VW in fury, but the board should have come out with it all 2 years ago regardless.

This has been going on since they moved to Joondalup , i remember talking to a director of the club back in the early 2000's about this and nothing has changed.

Yep, they were well known over two decades ago. they gave up a club house at Leederville for it , so they must of thought there were positives about it. VW sound like they are $200K out of pocket on rent, no excuses there.

The new WPFC facility cost $8 Million to build, WPFC did not have to foot the bill for the construction.

it is incredible just how far the WAFL has fallen. One of their founding clubs is in big trouble and after 2-3 days of news it has been thrown on backburner by the media.
What should be a big issue for WA football is nothing short of who cares.
I know we have got ourselves in the shit and those who are to blame must be moved on but the club is bigger than these individuals.
For the money this club has generated through the turnstiles for over 100 years the WAFC or Government should simply write a one off cheque and clear the path for this club to get on with things.
This does not excuse the club, christ put your own people in there to run things for 3 years for all I care but it seriously gives me the shits how short a memory WA football has but also the WA football fans have. This club cannot be allowed to die, not because it's my club cause I would say that about my mortal enemy East Perth also. The media should be hounding the WA public to help West Perth out but dead silence.
Please help this club if you can Guys. West Perth cannot die.

What annoys me me about the situation is how quickly options are being ruled out.West perth are not going to align.West perth e are not going to change their name to Joondalup in hopefully getting more sponsorship. It will take drastic measures to pay back the debt.Considering the WAFC are stumping up money and don't want the falcons to fold I would think they would make them take up both options.

They are loaning the money not giving it to them. If it was a gift then I agree they can have some terms.
They should be gifting it to them for what the Cardies and all WAFL clubs have done for football in this state.
