Perhaps if Subiaco FC think they've been dudded out of junior zones then maybe grant them an extra zone but reduce their points cap to force the utilisation of their local products rather than having it every way

In the last 30 years alone you have won more flags and played in more GFs than both SD & P have in their respective long history and you guys believe $ubi need and deserve more help!?

Based on that logic? you would have agreed if swans had their districts reduced by 40% back then given the massive funding you had for country, indigenous and junior development, that no other club had access to? Your club had money and did exactly what Subi have done and any other club would do in the same situation, so don't pretend your sitting on the high moral ground.

Well the V Swans is still in existence SS nothing has changed in that regard.
You do realise and has been explained to you many times previously but you continue to ignore in the previous 3 seasons before 2010 SD had around 20 players taken in the AFL draft and had to replace them somehow as we hadn't done anything for 20 years, in hindsight we probably went a bit overboard in recruiting but got a long overdue flag haven't won another since. Hardly topping off an already strong list like your mob do annually!
By the way on the weekend just gone Swans had 86.4% local zone talent take the field which must be close to a record since zones were introduced.

Claremont is set up beautifully. The best zones in the metro area and the ability to cherry pick AFL quality talent from the north west. Without a constant stream of draft money perhaps the Tigers might fall over which would be a disaster.

BH....fantastic of SD to play at 86% local mate.....5 goals to show for it though....it's one of those conundrums I guess...perhaps the WAFL need to stipulate 75% local each week per team and EP and Peel have to have 50% local....though that would mean an awful lot of quality players bypassing the WAFL.....the comp is dying as it is....decreasing the quality will only expedite that process surely?

As has been explained to you several times the only reason you aren't still running that extensive recruiting is due to your own financial mismanagement, if you had the money you would be recruiting. The reason you aren't doing what you used to do so well is that you have no choice, your only using locals because there's no other option. If having less than 60% local content is a crime then your mob were guilty, Perth have always recruited heavily and I have no complaints of that but simply recruiting wont win you a flag, you have to have the right coach and culture, something Perth has struggled with until this season. Spalding has laid the foundations for a successful future by changing their culture, that was clearly shown in the way they went about beating Subi a few weeks ago.

Anyway seems we have hijacked the topic somewhat from Ben's original subject matter so apologies for that.

How do you know what Swans football department would be doing now SS?
The fact we had never extensively recruited in the period before all those SD boys were drafted around 2010 would suggest not so I am not sure what makes you so confident that it would have continued!

I don't think I'm asking for anything unfair.

I'm only asking for one extra junior club to be handed from a WAFL team that has played 26 of the last 40 colts grand finals to a club that gets thumped week in week out and has the lowest numbers. I haven't asked for anything from West Perth or East Perth because I don't believe they are in a position to lose anything and I want a strong even colts competition.

The colts comp needs to be an attractive place to be for kids. So many already have a could care less attitude towards footy nowadays. Getting thumped each week just puts them off even more.

North Beach JFC isn't a large club. It services That small area north of Karrinyup road next to the Carine JFC and up to the Sorrento-Duncraig JFC. All three clubs are in each other's hip pockets. So really it caters for kids in Trigg (North of Karrinyup Rd not South), Watermans Bay, North Beach, Carine and the wealthier section of Karrinyup around Milverton Ave.

On a related topic.

Things aren't good in WA at junior level. It is particularly bad in the Northern suburbs where there are huge dead areas of no footy above primary school age - especially in the Subiaco and East Perth zone. In many of those areas soccer is now the sport of choice.

Sadly our WA 15's side was beaten by Queensland in the championships last week. The participation rates are drastically low for a city of 2.3 million.

But back to Subiaco.

It is my understanding that the colts will have a base in the zone next year depending on council agreements etc. I'm hoping it will be close to Warwick station as that is a central point for all kids to be able to get to by bus or train. Hopefully it will come to fruition.

While I agree with some that Subi have recruited a few too many in some of the seasons since 2002, the club was left with little choice when the WAFL decided to even up the league comp by compromising the zones and the colts comp. Although Subi hadn't won a premiership since 1988 it was deemed that they should have a ridiculously small zone. It backfired because it literally angered Subi into action.

A way around this was to reduce the pints cap from 130 to 110 a few years back but that is impossible now with Peel and EP fielding squads each week that on occasions have topped the 200 points mark for 45 players let alone 55 if you count AFL listed players as 10 points.

Without 5 or 6 outstanding recruits I don't see any clubs having a chance at a premiership against the AFL host clubs.

And if Swan Districts people, and strangely only Swan Districts people, think that having a relatively even colts comp is drastic, just wait and see what the powers that be have in mind for an u/18 comp in future. Think TAC Cup with the colts becoming the 4ths.

Just getting our colts comp right is far better than that alternative.

I've just checked and Claremont have 0 players in their league squad from North Beach JFC and 2 in their colts squad so it's not going to make much of a difference to them. It won't get Subi into any colts finals anytime soon but it will help Subi just that little bit at colts and development squad level.

The "Super-18's" comp has long been on the cards & it is an AFL led push purely so there is less work for them to identify their next batches of fodder mate

It would have already been in operation by now except they don't want to pay for it
