5. 1984 SD vs EF

Bazza must have been involved in the Shirley Finn & Rosemary Anderson cases in his days in the fuzz to have missed this basic evidence! :)

How in the feck is 1980 considered the modern era BH?....in 1987 over 30 plus players minimum left the WAFL for the VFL when WCE formed....thus the comp depth wise dropped off ten fold....cant think of one year prior to 87, did the comp have a mass exodus of top players in one go? BH are you saying the quality of the comp during SD three peat in the early 80's was better or worse than Subi's three peat in the 2000s?....because it sounds like to me you think they were equal?....

I really can't think of one player in the WAFL during the 90's and Subi's reign who were good as the likes of Baker, Narkle, Peake, Michael, Hunter, Krakouer, Ralph, Menaglio, Rioli etc etc ....not one!.....I am amazed you say the modern era is 1980....conveniently post that 79 derby GF too  !!.....truly amazed at your definition of basic evidence?

Poor 1990 GF figures may have had a lot to do with the earlier draw WCE v COLL in the AFL qualifying final pushing AFL fixtures back a week and having it compete with Eagles final on a weekend being that it was the first time WCE were in the hunt. When the Eagles started winning WAFL as we knew it was done. All of these attendances being argued about here haven't factored in weather either which makes the whole argument null and void when arguing post Eagles WAFL GF attendances.

LB....did you ever get the fairytale about the 2 sleeping giants Roo Boucher and Basil Campbell....the blood sport moss v Boucher headlines scared the shit out of a young impressionable SD nipper in me ;)

10 years is long enough to form a decent view on things.
though the WAFC seems to agree with BC that the modern era started in 1987 based on their decision making skills

Mobile Pones have been around for longer, hardly long enough for an "era"

Bazza wrote: No it wasnt check the records it was 46,208 FACT.

the only time SD attracted a crowd of over 50K was in 1982 , 50,833.

In fact there is a good argument that SD was a detrimental value to the passion of WA footy because in 1983 and 1984 attendances fell steadily condign with with each SD appearance, only arresting in 1985 when they were absent and S v EF played.

Further evidence to dispel the bongo valley urban myth.

Bazza for the record you are correct with the figure of 46,208 for the 1982 GF. HOWEVER, checking my records the figure was restricted and I quote "because the building of the new grandstand was incomplete."

Tell you what bud, you won't win the "era" argument. I've been there before and these guys pick the years, or "era" to suit their argument. Not bad when you can make your own rules to play by

Correct 42 meaning the 2 Tier Stand was a building site at that time ensuring approx 10k seats were unavailable ...otherwise that 79 attendance would have been smashed by the Black & White Army in 1980!

This is getting pathetic this argument, so Collingwood have got more supporters than anyone in the country, so therefore they are a superior club to everyone else? Clubs have different numbers of supporters due to historical and geographical reasons, who gives a shit? The reason there was a big crowd in the 89 gf compared to the 90 gf is because the Eagles were shit in 89 and they were playing finals in 90. What's the point of this whole thread - my club is better than yours because we've got more supporters? our clubs rivalry is bigger than your clubs rivalry? Swans Claremont is a beauty I know that, oh but Claremont is irrelevant because they got fuck all supporters, whatever.
Ion another note I think it's ridiculous that Claremont west perth isn't the televised game this week.
