Hey Freezin one of the the best derbies of recent memory was the one Farmer got levelled infront of the EFFC members stand, what year was that?

The Atmosphere was at fever pitch that day.

I think it was 2008 or Was it 2009? 11,000 plus there?

Bazza you may be right about South Freo participating in the second highest attended GF. However, I think you may have the wrong year.

I have never been a school teacher. However, I do have great admiration for teachers. Why do you ask?

Integral to this sites banter 42....LOL I can think of a few who would love nothing more then to knock my block off mate if we were to meet .....but hey it's all banter come end of the day, keeps the site active I guess.....I know where EF stand at present and whilst disappointing it aint the end of the world....always next year....though have been saying that now since 98!! Good luck to SD if they stay in the 5.....not too sure how far they will go, but got to be in ot to win it!!

As for that year Bazza, didn't SF win the flag in 09?....thus pretty sure that was Farmers only year at SF post his career in the AFL?....would say 2009 then mate, always great to see champs come back and play some WAFL after their AFL careers. Belly too.....nothing like a Freo derby to get the juices flowing, saw many a ripper in the 70's and 80's...just reckon post WCE it just aint the same, but good to see both clubs more often than not pull a few punters every now and then to keep that rivalry going.

No I am correct 1975 WP v SF , at the time set a record only to be broken in 1979, SF v EF.

Mate he got dropped back to WAFL in 2008 I recall, and played a few games at SFFC but I thonk it was 2009 as it was a massive crowd.

in the last 12 years the 2 biggest GF crowds have invovled SD.
probably more relevant than what happened in 1975 or 1979.
in that time other clubs that have been invovled in non-Swans gf's - Subi, South, WP, EP, EF, CL.

Lets look at the facts, The top 10 attended GF;s in the post Eagles / Dockers "modern" Era.

2. 1994 C v WP 32,404
3. 1997 SF v EF 32,371
4. 1987 S v C 32,340
5. 2002 EP v WP 31,382
6. 1995 WP v S 30,712
7. 2000 EP v EF 30,174
8. 1992 SF v EF 30,130
9. 1996 C v EP 29,772
10. 1988 S v C 28,183

As you can see SD does not feature ONCE in the top 10.

Once you start going down from there the crowds are so small they are barely worth bothering with.

SD biggest ever GF crowd in this era was 26,541 in 1990, no even close to top 10 material. That was the year after South and C attracted 12,000 more!

Dont let the facts get in the way of a good urban myth.
