Looking at Bancrofts dismissal makes me wonder whether Renshaw's has a current passport. It wasn't a good look for a batsman who apparently has great powers of concentration.

Obvious early in the series that Otis Gibson & Faf DuPlessis have nutted out a distinct plan - on a seaming wicket the tweaker is on first change to throw the spanner
Bancroft is not going to cut it but has one more innings to pull something out from somewhere , maybe

Aussies now 2 for 95 after 26 overs, Warner just reached 50 and Smith on 24. Looks like these two are vital again if we are going to get a good score.

Bugger... Warner caught in the slips off Philander just before lunch. 3 for 95.

Geez! How frustrated would Warner be right now. Does all the hard work then gives it away with a limp shot like that.

Disastrous Mike & Jim to get out on the last ball before lunch from a ball he just didn’t even have to play at..should have just shouldered arms and let it go through harmlessly to DeKock and head to the pavilion at 2 down!! :pinch:

Absorbing day of test cricket. Evenly poised at the end, although Australia would be pleased to have runs on the board. Mitch Marsh showed good temperament in the last session I thought as I feared a collapse after tea when Shaun Marsh was dismissed. Disappointing that 3 batsmen got out in the 40's and 50's but we won't know what a good score is until South Africa bat on it. The Aussies should be aiming to get 300 tomorrow which will give them something to bowl at.

Why not aim the bow higher? 400 plus would be very nice.

Mitch Marsh and Tim Paine both did well before the South African weather let everyone down.14 overs lost to bad light - I guess starting an hour earlier so they can get all 90 overs in would make too much sense.

I' m sure they would like as many as possible. Interesting to see how this pitch plays later in the game. Agree we will know more after South Africa have a bat too.

Interesting to see at the start of the year Renshaw struggled and Bancroft bloomed....now it's roles reversed....new ball due soon can see Aust either scoring quickly off it or getting out quickly....300 would be nice as would a Starc or Cummins 50......touch wood the fast boys are on song with both bat and ball

Speaking of soft dismissals....what is it with Sean Marsh and his penchant to meekly dab outside off to the spinners.....like he is in a trance......understand dabbing to the pace guys, but the slow bowlers?....looked steady for his 40.....touch wood his brother can go a bit deeper.....and Paine too
