Had Dutton allowed Bryce Cotton to become an Australian citizen our Boomers could have defeated the USA and won gold. The USA basketball team at this Olympics was far from a dream team and probably the smallest basketball team they’ve ever assembled. We were also lacking depth in the big man department, especially after Aaron Baynes injury and Ben Simmons pulled out.

He has got his deficiencies but his strengths are enormous. Bryce Cotton will be an Australian citizen soon so he’ll be available for the next basketball world championships and the Paris Olympics.

Patty Mills is an outstanding person and basketballer who I think is understated. Should be a bronze statue made of him. His interview with the female reporter who has in tears herself choking up while interviewing him was one of the highlights of the games along with the interviews of Peter Bol after the 800m final where he didn’t play the race card like they were trying to lead him to say. He just said I don’t want to be an inspiration for one particular race but for all people, we are all the same. Well said young man

And Arianne Titmus, my favourite female athlete of these games.

Looks like at the 23.5 hour the USA overtook China.With 38 Gold v 37 and 17 medals ahead with silver and bronze.

DD the IOC changed the rules on athlete's sponsorship endorsements.Athletes can now mention there sponsorships on Twitter and Facebook posts.Ariane Titmus and others looks like there going to make lots of money from these changes.While the irons hot just after the Olympics.Great imo they deserve as much money as other professional sports people.

Did you read the link?  It showed Australia had 2350 points to Belgium 2348 points.  As of today Belgium are ranked 1 and Australia 2.  Which country was ranked 1 at the end of 2020?  Belgium.  In 2019 it was Australia and in 2018 it was Belgium.

Australia was ranked no.1 in the world going into the Olympic Games yet again and then didnt go on to win the Gold Medal yet again!

Agree gtr and they should receive cash payments from the government. Maybe $100k for gold, 50k silver and 25k bronze. Not life changing but certainly a bit of help for the hours and sweat they dedicate to winning a medal for the nation.

The Filipino woman who won gold in the weightlifting will receive a house and 33 million pesos, approx $890,000AU. With that she can afford a palace in the Philippines with 3 full time maids and never work another day in her life.

Just had a look DD.Singapore was offering 1.5 million US for a Gold Medal.Unfortunatly they did not win a medal.Just seen Ariana Titnus do a Harvey Norman add on tv.

Would that be per person or the total amount divided by the number of athletes involved?
