Yeah, I think they hold the record for the most failed Gold Medal finals, 5 or 6 finals for 1 Gold, opposed to Pakistan 9 Finals for 8 Gold.

Unlike previous Olympics when the eastern block and Soviet Union .Won the loins share of Gold medals.Sometimes the Soviets won over 60 gold medals.
Today the Olympics are a lot larger than back then.And China is leading with 34 Gold followed by the USA with 30.Good to see most nations are sharing on the medals.

I did read somewhere that Russia may have had less athletes to compete with due to doping penalties so that may be another reason mate not entirely sure though

Southerner I added up the former Soviet Union tally the other night.And it was closing on 100 medals.ROC alone has over 60 medals .

yes it was always USSR , USA and China top three I think mate - huge contingents of athletes made sure of that
