DD how do deal with being so right so often, you must be very successful in all of your endeavors, I am surprised you have enough time to contribute your pearls on this site.
Hey Dickhead what do you expect when fuckwits ridicule instead of respecting who someone voted for? You won’t find me ridiculing others for which way they voted. It’s piss weak and pathetic. And pricks like you and Bond girl blowing kisses to those ridiculing who I vote for. You are pathetic.

I understand your thinking there DD to make a statement with your first preference knowing full well it would finish up going to Labor any way. I'm not sure the majority turned away from the majors though given they received just under 70% of primary votes.

Anyway, a quick back of the envelope calculation saw Palmer spend $200 for every vote received and the majors about $10. So he spent 20 times more per vote and still didn't win a thing. It make you wonder what the hell was he trying to achieve? Good luck to Albo for our sakes...I hope he does well but I have doubts given the most senior Labor people were all around during the toxic R/G/R years and they didn't exactly cover themselves with glory back then.

BTW...Comrade 42 must be walking around with a permanent stiffy. :-)
Highest non two party vote on record BC and biggest cross bench in history, ALP got gov on the lowest ever primary vote for any ever incoming gov -  if thats not turning away not sure what is.

Cannot help but think the Teals are a form of re incarnated Australian Democrats, these movements tend to run 10 - 20 years before people drift back, hard to tell though as demographics are changing so much in Australia, Independents can be hard to dislodge as well once the locals like what they see, time will tell but this could be the end of the liberals being the party of the well paid proffesional middle classes and richer educated voters, which is real problem as they are the parties biggest donors, organisers and brains trusts.

I never said voters didn't turn away in numbers. DD's comment was the "majority" turned away which is why I pointed out 70% still voted for them.

And once again you resort to being abusive even when you get a back handed compliment, your vote was effective unlike many others and you used to it well. I have not ridiculed you, belittled you or even suggested you were wrong but hey you take the comment anyway you want but it does show just what you are, very insecure!
Nice try dickhead you virtually thank everyone who disagrees with me. Call it what you like. You are pathetic.

Grump I think that's the problem with the LNP and Labor. They have both shifted to far to the right. And it started in the early 1980's with Hawke and Keating.
The example of that was a comparison between the Gillard and Fraser Governments.Julia supposedly the most left government this century. Was regarded as being further to the right than than the conservative Fraser government 1975-83.
Looks like the long overdue correction happened on Saturday night.

Fair enough BC. looks like around 35% for the non majors, and how long until the Greens start being classed as "major", with a very large senate presence and now 3 maybe 4 in the lower house they are really making in roads. I don't think the Australian Democrats ever had numbers like that, and when you look at how much they spend, must be bugger all bucks a seat compared to Palmer, they get a good bang for their buck.

Now that ALBO knows the electorate is warming to left policy on a few issues, like climate I reckon his left credintials will come out and you will see them pull back to the left, they wil have a free range greens support in the senate to do it, the conservatives have been relegated to the sidelines.

I rarely follow how to vote slips. I chose Labor as my first preference on both slips. I couldn’t tell you what Clive’s how to vote slip said. I didn’t want to vote Greens or Pauline and I don’t know the independents from a bar of soap. The rest sound like complete nutters. I thought Albanese came across much better in his acceptance speech than he did in any other forum during the campaign. Maybe he’ll perform better as a Prime Minister than as an opposition leader. Let’s hope so.

That’s a very interesting point gtr.
