Went pretty much as I predicted.

Morrison brand was toxic and people walked away from the libs in droves, in many places it was to Teals and other like WA and Vic it was to labor and the teals, Qld threw up more Greens, there have clearly been a big shift to the left, and it's fair to say the electorate has now has its say on climate change and want action. Greens looking like 3 seats in the lower house which is remarkable.

As I tipped the Libs lost Curtin and Kooyong to the Teals, educated professionals have turned off the Libs and their boganisation of the party, they want intelligent science based goverment not a bunch of climate deniers lead by Barnaby Joyce hillbillies.

To loose blue ribbon liberal seats and the likes of Josh F is an outright disaster. these seats will be hard to take back.

The Liberals are now at a dangerous place in history, they either embrace the message change or fade from history, it may mean a split, either way they won't form Government for a long time, across the country they are in losing power in each State.

In WA Morrison was roundly rejected for his anti WA madness, siding with Palmer in attacking the highly popular border controls, the WA public once again strongly endorsed the McGowan Covid management plan and backed WA against Canberra arrogance.

I don't have much faith in Albo or the ALP mob elected, to see some of the very ordinary candidates in WA that got up is a real concern.

Another thing deeply concerning is how Chinese voters are now determining outcomes, and they backed pro Beijing candidates rejecting anyone that stands up to the CCP.

Some of the few highlights,
Palmer and his mob roundly rejected coast to coast, 100 Mill for SFA and extra special was his idiot Craig Kelly ( the next PM ) attracting a pathetic 7.5% in his old seat.
Keannelly losing in her parachute seat, good riddance to her - a total dud, as well as Terri Butler getting the arse.
Morton in Tangney the last mug who was still banging on about Roe 8 lost liberal blue ribbon Tangney to an unknown asian bloke.

I noticed DD's mate Clive didn't do very well. $100m spent and not a single seat in either houses to show for it although he probably doesn't care too much as the Chinese paid for it.
Not in WA but his party polled quite well elsewhere in the country BC. He attracted 1.8% of voters in WA that’s not too bad considering.

DD you write some funny crap on here but that takes the cake.

Great summery Baz...That unknown Malaysian bloke from Tangney is a Dolphin trainer, lol
With  the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. We have replaced Russia as the largest Coal exporter on the planet. And our economy is making billions of dollars doing so.I just don't know how Albo going to stear his way through that problem.

Lol it’s hilarious how people love to take pot shots. I didn’t want to give my vote to any of the two majors, I’m in the majority who turned away from the majors. But I backed the winner with my first preference so I’d say my thinking was more on the money than yours Baz and a few others on here.

DD how do deal with being so right so often, you must be very successful in all of your endeavors, I am surprised you have enough time to contribute your pearls on this site.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

I understand your thinking there DD to make a statement with your first preference knowing full well it would finish up going to Labor any way. I'm not sure the majority turned away from the majors though given they received just under 70% of primary votes.

Anyway, a quick back of the envelope calculation saw Palmer spend $200 for every vote received and the majors about $10. So he spent 20 times more per vote and still didn't win a thing. It make you wonder what the hell was he trying to achieve? Good luck to Albo for our sakes...I hope he does well but I have doubts given the most senior Labor people were all around during the toxic R/G/R years and they didn't exactly cover themselves with glory back then.

BTW...Comrade 42 must be walking around with a permanent stiffy. :-)

Labor now look like a minimum of 75 seats, possibly up to 77.But the Senate looks tricky for the ALP.
The Greens didn't just hurt the LNP on Saturday night. They took Senate seats of Labor.
Labor have 28 of the 78 Senate seat. They will need backing from the 13 Green senators.
Albo will remember Bob Brown dominating Julia Gillard in negotiations. And will have work to do too keep the Greens on side. The Greens will believe there way of thinking now has a mandate.

Good analysis GTR. Jumping off the majors and onto others like the Greens was always the risk and Albo will have his work cut out getting stuff through the Senate. IMO the Greens are the most radical and extreme of all parties and will certainly want their pound of flesh every time they side with the government to get legislation passed. I recall Windsor, Oakeshott and Katter all looked after number 1 to a certain extent when Gillard ran the show, but at least they pretty much rubber stamped everything to give smooth passage whereas the Greens are dangerous if given any power

I agree with everything you've said Baz but I think it could go even further with a tectonic shift away from the majors even at state level.  The McGowan government has performed so poorly in all areas except for closing borders and implementing restrictions, it wouldn't surprise one little bit if we see the rise of well educated and funded independents at the next state election as there's no chance of the state Libs arising from the ashes to be remotely competitive in that time.

McGowan should still be able to form government, but some of the plodders who got a gig at the last election would lose out to independents and a well organised cross bench would be very hard to deal with.
