Interesting when the swings are looked at, 6.5% against the LNP. 0.5% against Labour and positives for the independents nationally. In WA 10.8% against the LNP with a positive 7.5% for Labour. It would seem that despite the informed few on the site Mr McGowan can still have an effect even on a federal election or was it that we (WA) really are that pissed off at Morrison along with the Women who Morrison still failed to acknowledge in his concession speech (oops).

Couple of sad things, the UAP did not get a seat, One nation are still not given the credit they deserve and Josh Frydenburg lost his seat (and this a seriously sad thing ).

Mr Frydenburg has been acknowledge as being one of the LNP that sat well with both sides with it being released that during the election he was talking to not only his own but Albanese as well. Perhaps we have lost a moderate when moderation is going to be needed.

A new dawn starts in Australia. It’s a big shift in our political landscape. I feel the Libs could be spending a long time on the pine. I was quite impressed with Albo’s victory speech, he performs a lot better when he doesn’t have journos asking him annoying questions about policies and othe minor technical stuff like unemployment rates and the cash rate.

Anyway he’s got there and hopefully proves to be a great Prime Minister. WA could be the king maker that delivers them a clear majority. On another note if we thought McGowan’s arrogance was bad enough already, how big is his head going to get now the media has credited the massive swing in the west to the McGowan factor?

My worry is that there will soon be more people on intrenched welfare, more violent crime (because there will be no ramifications), more tent city's (because giving people money when they don't work leads to mental health and drug issues), less respect of authorities like police and ambulance officers. More breakdown of families - it's the left's stated aim and finally an increase in government institutions falling over themselves to cater for fringe elements.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Intrenched? is that even a word. Don't lose too much sleep over all that princess.

I think the result reflects the fact that the Libs have been in for a long time and it's probably time for a change. If you're a Lib and you're going to get voted out then right now probably isn't a bad time given the political and economic instability globally, our trillion $ net debt, the rise of the self entitled independents and the fact the Labor team coming in is pretty ordinary.

I also think those who believe McGowan is some sort of king maker are insulting WA voters by suggesting we can't separate state and federal issues. The federal Libs stuffed themselves up by backing Palmer initially over borders in the High Court and then taking aim at WA by calling as all cave dwellers. I don't believe anyone here voted Labor because of McGowan as surely people aren't that dumb...or maybe they are when you read some of the stuff online.

Anyway, good luck to Albo for our sakes as I think it's going to be a pretty bumpy ride when you consider most of the main players in Labor are still on deck from the R/G/R era and we know how that panned out.

BC I suspect you give folk to much credit about not being that dumb or perhaps have not separated the issue of Sneakers and Scomo. The fact that morrison sided with the Turd  still resonates with some either from the we love sneakers or how do you support anyone against WA whether they like or dislike sneakers. We are a very parochial lot in WA so when you go against one of our own you go against us. Not all are like that but I suspect enough to have some impact/
