Hey BARISTA...I understand where you're coming from mate but in all reality if everyone stuck strictly to the topic then you'd probably only get one or two replies at best. at least now you've generated 5 pages of discussion on issues relating to WP ..so that can't be all bad. posters do get regularly side tracked on this site but imo as long as its loosely related than I don't see a problem but that's just my opinion and given this is your thread I'll defer to you. as per BH...good luck this week...I hope you have a good solid win.

Hard to say how WP will do this year.

The squad is pretty stable with a few exceptions. Simpson is a big key position player with lots of experience in Victoria. Brayden Antonio is returning from injury. Hutchinson showed promise at EP. As did Riddoch at Swans. Maybe Jacky will play at some stage but it's unlikely.

A few key losses. Kerr, Tedesco, Duffy, Rohde, Rasmussen.

But still plenty of options in the key positions with Rodda, Hamilton, Keitel, Lourey, Simpson etc and a midfield with Black, Nelson, Van Berlo and co West are always going to get a fair share of the ball.

Can Lourey, Riddoch, Rodda, Antonio, Manning kick enough goals I wonder.

Heaps of kids BH and there is a team that trains at the Primary near me. Quinns Rock Bulls I presume. I was speaking in terms of what the kids are up to after school etc. Heaps of skateboards,sitting around in parks but not much sport. Jindalee is relatively small with many old folk like me.

Yep, don't blame you mate. Hijacked threads are a constant on this website and when some of us try and make the point of how frustrating it is and that it might be discouraging new members, we are howled down as being somehow "precious" or pedantic. There are threads like the bar and WAFL general news for broader discussion.

On the Game, will be a passionate Perth derby as it always has been. I was unimpressed with the skill level of East Perth last week against Peel so at home I think the Falcons may have the edge. Disappointing about the injury to Steven Browne

yep...nice work LH...it just goes to show all clubs recruit from outside their zone despite what some delusional supporters suggest and hence the points cap.

Not to mention the thousands of transfer dollars wasted on recruits who had no interest in the club like Duffy and Krakouer. Losing WP products returning from the AFL because the package we offer is just broken promises. It is just so upsetting to the true supporters and followers of kids in our zone.

I don't know what to make of the season ahead, it has been the lowest key I have experienced being a Falcon for 37 years. We have not recruited massively which is fine as we are one of few clubs that promote from within on a consistent basis. Monaghan has mooted there will be more diversity in our game regarding swinging players around to unsettle the opposition, that will be interesting in itself.

All that said, going on what I saw last Saturday night we should win by 23 points !!!

We constantly recruit and shun our own players. Gauling to see one of our brightest junior talls named a best player at another WAFL club because he was told he wasn't wanted at West Perth. Will be even hardly to fathom when we have a Victorian recruit will be playing in his position on Sunday.

Are you referring to the ruckman Sutherland who played in our reserves last week? Big lump of a lad.

No I wasn't but that is another great example.

I usually only read the comments (unless something gets on my nerves) but it is an unfortunate by-product of this site that most discussions turn into a measuring contest by just a few Swans supporters. You can enjoy the comments from most Swans supporters and supporters of other teams more if you just ignore the usual suspects.

Of course you are entitled to your view JD62, but you can't just pin it on a couple of Swans supporters. Have a look back at this thread and count how many of the comments are about the WP V EP game on Sunday. Not many and those few comments have been submerged in a host of other topics including zone boundaries, the influence of soccer in the Northern suburbs, how many kids in different suburbs,where various posters live, why kids choose to play soccer over footy etc etc etc. All legitimate topics perhaps but none of them belong on a thread discussion on a particular game. I would rather read 5 or 6 on topic comments than 50 which meander all over the place. Its not Rocket science to start a new topic if someone wants to discuss zones, coffee or even talk in Spanish if they want FFS!

And yes I am aware of the irony that I have added to the number of off topic posts on Barista's thread but at least I offered him my view on the game.
