BH...as a kid my 26yo son grew up in a footy environment with his grandparents and myself taking him to watch Subi every week...he played footy as a junior with Attadale Bombers and PSA school footy at Aquinas...what's he doing now you might ask? playing amateur soccer with Melville City...when he should be in his prime as an aussie rules player he's kicking a round ball .....go figure...its just the way it is.

LH we beg to differ mate. I have lived up here for most of this century and been involved in a number of sporting clubs up here and it is a complete and utter furphy that most of this zone is English. No doubt there is a pommy presence up here but nowhere near the majority. Actually the majority of WP's zone is north of Burns Beach Rd & east of Wanneroo Rd which is for the vast majority the City of Wanneroo not City of Joondalup bar the burbs of Kinross & BB. The likes of Two Rocks, Yanchep, Alkimos, Eglinton, Butler, Jindalee, Merriwa, Quinn's Rocks,Ridgewood, Mindarie, Clarkson, Carramar, Banksia Grove, Tapping, Ashby, Sinagra, Hocking, Wanneroo are all City of Wanneroo and working class demographics footy supporters. You would have to ask why they are not playing our national game as there are plenty of venues and clubs where OUR footy is played?

Sorry to Barista for going off topic but I thought it important to bring a local viewpoint for some of the points made before.

Mate, there might be kids up there sure but they ain't playing aussie rules and the numbers prove that.

I consider myself fairly unbiased and sure enough here I am defending WP.

I lived my whole life up there as well.

The WP zone starts at Hepburn and sure enough Whitfords is a strong club but mate all in all WP do it tough.

LH doesnt WP metro zone start at upwards of Whitfords Ave from Wanneroo Rd to Marmion Ave & upwards from Mullaloo Dve coast side of Marmion Ave (Kallaroo falls under Subi)?
By any chance do you live in the heart of the WP zone LH?

Nah, the WP/S boundary is Hepburn until the freeway and then Subi has that part of Kingsley until Whitfords Ave.

Nah, I'm just in the Subi zone.

Big O has the numbers...he's an insider and knows whats going on

Mate i do and it is teaming with Aussie kids up here...i wish my beloved SD zone (where I lived previously) had as many kids running around the streets and schools as up here but at least we seem to turn ours into reasonable footy playing numbers in comparison.

Swans have great participation numbers in their zone. It's one of the biggest.

We do well in converting the available kids in our metro zone into playing our game but let me tell you from personal experience in both areas we wouldnt have anywhere near the current amount of kids that reside in the current WP metro zone.
Also the suburb of Kingsley is in Subis zone which is north of Hepburn Ave too btw LH.

You posted that the WP zone started at Hepburn above...my attention is fine.
I also live in the heart of the WP zone when was the last time you travelled north of Burns Beach Rd out of interest?
