I thought Conner Sing was outstanding on Sokol. He’s about to come into his own hopefully. Aaron Clarke looked great at full forward. Edwards in the ruck can’t jump very high but a huge bloke that will help us compete in the air. The team gelled well. Lots of fumbling at crucial times which suggests there’s still lots of improvements. Great first up win

So much to like about today. We took Subi on at their own game and they did not like it. BUT, still early days. We need to show that form consistently and improve it even further.
The recruits performed exceptionally well. The two Charlies in the middle teamed very well, Aaron Clarke is a great target up forward, presents well and covers a lot of space. Sam Simpson relatively quiet but when he is involved he has silky skills.
Josh Edwards 43 hitouts against 44. Competed well and I liked his variety of hitouts to targets.
The makepiece backline without Schenslog and Avery were solid all day and created many breakaways from defence. The young inexperienced defenders played above and beyond.
Best start to a season by the club for a long time. The Colts showed we will have much more talent coming through and the Ressies also had a runaway win. Clean sweep. I believe that the futures are showing good form early.
As I said, it is early days and still much work to do but there seems to be more than a glimmer of hope that we are on the right track.

Don’t Stop Believin’

How many smothers in the last quarter?
Dazz I thought our work rate was outstanding.
Including our desperation for the contest.
Not sure Subi will be the powerhouse everybody is touting.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Who does the stats Barbie?
Free kicks 17 all FFS.
Subi had half that in the first quarter.
No way they even.
Sub gets iffy ones and our legitimate ones get ignored.
No wonder fukn excuse for a coach Wardman talks for close to half an hour out on the ground before the game to all 3 umpires.
And Wardman does it every game I see Subi play.
A fukn disgrace.
And the Umpires are not made accountable.
It is not in the interests of the game for Umpires to have such conversations with Club officials.

Kim Jong Un would be proud of that one.

At the 13 and a half minute mark of the first quarter $ had 4 on the board we had one and iit looked like another ritual pummelling coming up. To kick 9 to 4 from that point on was a great effort in what was an arm wrestle of a match.

One goal to the southern end after quarter time. Bizarre.

17 all is very hard to believe. Umpire #9 was very good. Umpire #12 was shocking. He clearly guessed a number of times whenever he was in a poor position. #9 made several decisions on very obvious frees from a long way out when #12 missed or refused to rule. We will never know but it’d be interesting to see how many frees #12 gave to Subi.

Aaron Clark seemed to kick the ball better.
I heard he had a session with Coups.
He will be a huge asset.
I'm sure with Q there as well there could be a few problems for opposition backlines.
I was impressed with Joey Chaplin he looks to be a very good get.
Josh Edwards has the ruck sewn up he looks very good.
Not sure the Dees will finish 2nd or 3rd last.
And I'm not sure Subi or Claremont will play finals.
Age is catching up with a few.

Wardman an ex umpire. Some good decisions but a lot of bad ones both ways. Both sides were guilty of a lot of mistakes so I'll go easy on the umps. We Perth supporters called a few decisions that should have gone Subi's way so maybe they were trying to even it up. Game wasn't decided by bad umpiring decisions that's the main thing.

I thought my team looked flat and out of petrol tickets during the 3rd quarter and we were lucky to only be a goal down. But an inspiring pep talk from Germo had the desired effect and the boys were inspired in the last qtr in particular Burner and little Daniel Hill. Both played like men possessed in the last qtr. Maybe the big fella upstairs was our 19th man today?

The big highlight for me was getting a hug from Dakota's mum after the game and chatting with her and Dakota's dad. What great people. The boys did it for you today Dakota. We will never forget you. What a day.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
