Yes oolll...we are as one in our concern for the mighty Lions and I'm sure you've turned prematurely grey as I have with the number of danger games my team has faced in recent years but we must soldier on regardless. Peel always has been a failed experiment and surely the time has come for the WAFC to bite the bullet and fold them into Freo and never to return. ffs Taylor..do us all a favour.

This is warming up for what looks like a merger between two existing clubs,

If Freo go it alone, what should of happened was them just taking over Peel and relocating to Cockburn. and rebaging it Fremantle,

But it looks like Peel will remain and dockers will go alone which leads to what I think will be an offer to clubs to merge.

EF and SF could be on the cards.

Over my dead body I can hear supporters of both sides saying. I hate byes but we get them anyway even with an even number but at least we will go back to a 20 game season and play everyone twice. I hated 9 teams, was too many to play each other 3 times (3 x 8 = 24) and season would have been only 16 games long if we played each other twice. So previously with 9 teams we had a 20 game season which meant playing some teams twice and other teams three times.

11 gives us a 20 game season with everyone playing each other twice. I'm cool with that.

It'll make fixturing that much easier but my main concern is that it'll dilute the talent base a bit more and could impact on the standard.

I think it will have minimal impact BC. If anything it thins out the talent pool at amateur ranks. Most of the Eagles top up players are plucked from amateur ranks. If the other WAFL clubs are smart they might poach one or two of those who have shined at WAFL level. The guy from Kingsley amateurs for one can’t recall his name seems to have done well. Won’t surprise me to see him in a Subi jumper next season. Lol ?

BC wrote: There's a worrying trend emerging here Ted where you and I are actually in agreement on various things...I also think Peel should merge with Freo with all that goes with it rather than just be aligned. The main problem with any such move would be the future of Centrelink Park after all the coin the WAFC has thrown at it. It wouldn't be viable to keep it going just for Freo reserves home games so maybe hand it back to the Peel second tier comp...not sure.

Royalties For Regions Park or Centrelink Park as BC terms it is used for far more than just Peelmantle.
It is also Mandurah Mustangs in the PFL home ground, the PFL GF is played there, there are at least 2 or 3 Masters carnivals that are played there during the footy season hosted by the Mandurah Makos Masters side plus the Mandurah junior football clubs home ground and usually an afl pre season game or 2 is played there as well.
I doubt they would miss Peelmantle too much tbh!

2021 will see Fremantle enter the competition making 11 teams, but West Perth dropping out reducing the teams back to 10.

Next season will be West Perth's final season. No bail out this time around.

Pretty much agree with DD again - Excepting -

Freo and WC to not only have their own seperate teams but to play in a totally different competition.

The 9 WAFL teams play each other twice for the WAFL Premiership (top 5).

When they aren't playing a WAFL team they are playing against WC or Freo in the BHP Cup or whatever you want to call it.

You would have two ladders in the paper each week. Glory to the WAFL Premiers and Loads of Cash to the BHP cup premiers. If WC or Freo win it though they donate it back to the WAFC
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
