Pathetic response, you agreed to pay it. Did you pay for the new building.?? nope.

Talk about bludgers.

What are you on about you old fool, the WPFC was forced to move up there and have been ripped off ever since, paying far to much rent and not being able to generate revenue from the chit hole,...open your eyes tosser!!

Yep, SFFC are looking forward to their $200K cheque...

Sounds like there's some pretty pissed of presidents at the other clubs BC with the debt clearance WPFC are getting.

Agreed...when you look at clubs like EF, Perth, Claremont and even your mob...they have to work their rings off to stay afloat. I've excluded Subi from that list for obvious reasons....but WP can do stuff off the books which lands them in a unenviable position which they admit is their own fault and get special treatment. I can understand why other Presidents are pissed off.

BC that deal we got handed Back in 94 was a bad deal, we had money in the bank before that, slowly but surely that all got eaten away, it has taken 24 years or so to finally catch up with us, 2 main reasons, the rent was way more than other WAFL clubs pay and the club has never been able to generate money from the facility, surely the other clubs can see what has been going on..

Yes Falcon...I understand that but rising expenses and/or falling or static revenue due to the arrangement with VW would be shown on your statutory accounts...what I'm seeing in the press is a large part of WP's debt was outside your general accounting reports, was done on the quiet and quoted as irregular player payments or similar. If cash was diverted or withheld or acquired from somewhere else and not ran through the books to pay for things that shouldn't have been happening thereby creating large debts for the club then I'm sorry, you're not going to get a great deal of sympathy from other clubs or anyone else for that matter.

The choices we make as individuals, business's and clubs can often go awry.

Yours seems to be the one that in hindsight has had a high emotional, fiscal and corporate expense.

Ours to align is one that financially good but for me and others emotionally costly.

I am glad that you have a lifeline but what now becomes a concern is the precedent that is set.

I understand that your rent and other location expenses are probably higher than most others but I know leederville is fast becoming a place that is costing both tenants more as each year passes. Little things like having to pay for extra bins, only allowed 9 for each club, the lighting etc.

It is an issue for many sporting venues, look at Moss Street, in other places it would be condemned.

Good news but the fallout may effect us all, a wait and see case now!

Good luck to WP but this is an almighty slap in the face for SD (and some other clubs) who had to fight their way back themselves from oblivion at the start of the decade with not one bit of help from the WAFC and are still struggling away!
We lost players back then to other clubs including WP because we couldnt afford them and yet they have had their players paid for by the WAFC...hardly fair!
Will there be any consequences, sanctions at all???

Believe whatever fantasy you want, WPFC were never "forced" to do anything, it was a decision voted on by your board and your board alone to move to Joondalup. I clearly remember their were fierce advoates for and against the move, in the end the blame for moving rests with board to moved there, and by the way the same club agreed to sign off on the rental agreements, unless you are claiming "Duress"..On top of that you haven't bothered to pay back the tax payer the money you owe them or anyone else while diverting funds to who knows where?

This is real slap in the face for all the other clubs.

I can see where the other clubs are coming from, I don't know there circumstances though and if or not they actually went into receivership?

As much as I love my club I think the following should be put in place.

1) All current board members removed immediately and sanctioned that they can never serve a WAFL football club again. New board to be approved for the next 3 years by the WAFC.

2) West Perth must operate under a 50% salary cap reduction compared to all other clubs for a period of 3 seasons. With the 50% of Salary cap they don't use they must still expense this money but it is to be used to pay back over time their creditors as a sign of good will. If sanctioned they can use only half the salary cap this may mean the club plummets to the bottom of the ladder for a few years then so be it. They will have to rely on their own area and kids as recruiting will be hard without the cap space.
