We got 11,500 in 2009, I doubt we will ever see a H and A with a crowd that big again. SD could only dream about a Home and Away attendance like that.

I'm sure there will be the usual massive away support for South at Lathlain on saturday. You can usually count them on one hand. And they're on top of the ladder. Says a lot.

The WAFL dropped the ball massively imo over Easter with 3 poorly attended games on Good Friday when they could have put all 4 games on Easter Monday which has happened before, people are quite often back from down South or wherever already due to work on Tues.
Also SD v WP on ANZAC day would have pulled more than the dying Freo derby tradition imo due to ladder positions alone and SD/WP having more active WAFL fans currently SD V Perth could due to Pertth having the most loyal gathering even after 40 years of torment.
Just look at this website which is held aloft by the activity on Perths and Swans thread. Otherwise it is as quiet as Claremonts bearded burbler at the moment since he lost his voice :P (Those who actually attend games will know who I'm talking about)
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

The EP v SU Good Friday game has normally pulled a decent crowd but like most games this year it's lower. The attendance chart posted on here shows WP are struggling to draw a decent crowd this year for some unknown reason so any game involving them might be in trouble. The top 4 drawing clubs so far this year are SF, EF SD & Su but it's early days in the season, maybe look at each clubs attendance figures at the end of the H & A before planning who should play whom on keynote days.

I did see the Bearded Burbler and his young bloke in tow at Basso mate but yeah your right I didn't hear him this time around...I actually missed hearing him bellow out "Go Tigers...get that goal back with compound interest" 15 times on Saturday!

Swans and Perth are the only 2 clubs that haven't had the luxury of playing on a public holiday as yet don't forget which boosts the numbers up...let alone 2 of them!

Do you also have the breakdown of how many public holidays each club played on in those years?

No, but I'm sure that you can research that yourself by going through the WAFL website and comparing each round from those years against public holidays.

By the way I absolutely agree with you that games on public holidays should be equally distributed for all clubs, with the possible exception of the alignment teams. East Fremantle has regularly played Peel at Mandurah over Easter in recent years and I would have thought a fixture on a public holiday between traditional clubs such as SD v P would draw a bigger crowd than anyone versus Peel.
