You make a good point DW ...although he has now been a Commissioner for some time and should not have any one club ties anymore!

Yep BH I still believe he acts in the best interests of Subi first and foremost even as a commissioner ...that's kinda my point...he's getting shit done in his role that benefits his club...it's not that I condone the method just acknowledging the results achieved for Subi...I'm still yet to see any direct influence that has made the comp greater, don't think that is really part of the agenda despite the job title. Hard to begrudge a man for using his capacity to help his club...wish I had that ability

You and me both mate.

Fark DW...I wish the other Swannie whingers and a few other WAFL club supporters had your insight and intellect mate....if the shoe was on any other foot bar a Subi one, this endless and I mean farking endless, whinging from a few on here wouldn't even exist...get over it people, business is business....dont think any Swannie fan or any other fan would be blinking an eye if their club was in Subi's shoes right now....wish some folk would move on from this apparent travesity of justice...it's boring, it's repetitive

SPOT ON Freezer. fair dinkum this site is like De Ja Vue I'd swear people have alzeimers as they repeat the same old themes every 3 to 6 months over and over and over again, the blame game on the future of the WAFL, the situation with Subi, what happened when the eagles entered the VFL, etc etc etc....

The most annoying thing is despite giving factual answers to the same old chestnuts, the same old false accusations incorrect histories get regurgitated on a 6 monthly basis, its like a parallel universe of selective abnesia.

Its little wonder the catch phrase fakenews is now rampant.

The other thing that helped drag Subi out of the financial mire was the massive transfer fee the club negotiated from the Hawks for Buckenara, cant recall the amount but it was a sizeable 6 figure amount. Through the efforts of Kevin Merrifield and the very capable smart business men that followed him as club presidents, the club was pretty much debt free by the time the Weag's came along.

and what financial advantage would that be ToOL? do you mean having social premises at Domain which allows them to offer AFL game day packages and run a bar? if that's what you're talking about then it's not some gift from the WAFC, it's a historical fact that Subi played out of there for 90 years, built the social club themselves and use it to their own advantage. wouldn't Claremont do the same if roles were reversed and AFL games were played at Claremont Oval?

It isn't limited to AFL game packages either, how about big concerts like last years ACDC gig alone where the turnover in $ubis old bar was around 6 figures I was reliably informed by a WAFL club President #fairness
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

I'm sure SD used to do well out of the music festivals held at Bassendean for a number of years...why aren't you still doing them?

you would need to ask the council, its their venue not Swans.
Swans got to run a can bar at those gigs, the upstairs area was for the bands to party in.
