Every club needs a Neil Randall type who has the means and the know how off the field to get things done on behalf of his club. Smart operator regardless what you think of the man personally. I do know the man and have seen first hand the passion and efforts he has gone to for the good of his club. Having men who can get shit done behind closed doors is a must for all clubs. Can't begrudge Subi for utilising the skill sets of their people. We need to learn from the bastards if we are gonna defeat them

and what financial advantage would that be ToOL? do you mean having social premises at Domain which allows them to offer AFL game day packages and run a bar? if that's what you're talking about then it's not some gift from the WAFC, it's a historical fact that Subi played out of there for 90 years, built the social club themselves and use it to their own advantage. wouldn't Claremont do the same if roles were reversed and AFL games were played at Claremont Oval?

There's no doubt there's a heap of hate for what Subi have. In this case it think it could be construed as jealousy. There's no doubt that all the other clubs would have used the advantage, despite it's unfairness and inequality.

I don't remember what the yeas was, but it was the only time that the WAFL GF was played for money.

I thought it was about a $200k reward, but I'm probably wrong - it was back in 1973 I think. I also think it was against WP, but am happy to be corrected on both accounts.

Fark DW...I wish the other Swannie whingers and a few other WAFL club supporters had your insight and intellect mate....if the shoe was on any other foot bar a Subi one, this endless and I mean farking endless, whinging from a few on here wouldn't even exist...get over it people, business is business....dont think any Swannie fan or any other fan would be blinking an eye if their club was in Subi's shoes right now....wish some folk would move on from this apparent travesity of justice...it's boring, it's repetitive

$200 000 in 1973?

To quote The Man With No Name or Blondie(Clint Eastwood) - "200 000 Dollars us a lot of Money,......"

I thought it was offered in 85 and 86.

BC?

I thought it was around 1985-88 and from a certain Subiaco sponsor.

it was 85-6: the first was to make the four; the second was for the flag of that year; we had a good team and were very fortunate.

You make a good point DW ...although he has now been a Commissioner for some time and should not have any one club ties anymore!

grassy...Western Underwriters sponsored Subi in 1985 to the tune of $100k to make the finals and another $100k to win it. Unfortunately freezing's mob beat us in the 85 GF but we won it in 86 and picked up $200k as a result. That set the club back on its feet and am pleased to say Western Underwriters/QBE are still with us 30 years later.

Yep BH I still believe he acts in the best interests of Subi first and foremost even as a commissioner ...that's kinda my point...he's getting shit done in his role that benefits his club...it's not that I condone the method just acknowledging the results achieved for Subi...I'm still yet to see any direct influence that has made the comp greater, don't think that is really part of the agenda despite the job title. Hard to begrudge a man for using his capacity to help his club...wish I had that ability
