I'm sure that most people would think that a reserves side is not a lucrative drawcard, especially a neutral supporter.

From the BOM site forecast for Sunday:

Sunday 25 September

Summary

Min 8

Max 18

Shower or two.

Possible rainfall: 0 to 5 mm

Chance of any rain: 60%

Perth area

Partly cloudy. Medium (50%) chance of showers. Light winds becoming southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h during the day then tending southerly 20 to 30 km/h during the afternoon.

And what does the WAFC do to the patrons who were going to go to the WAFL GF on Sunday? Prevent those patrons from being able to sit under cover in the upper tiers.

Why would they do that? One doesn't need to be a Rhodes Scholar to work out that the reason is that they haven't been able to get a rent-a-crowd so they are trying to force the crowd into a smaller area to give the impression that there is a HUGE crowd at the GF.

I know for a FACT that the Freo FC are bombarding their members to get the rent-a-crowd for the WAFL GF.

Finally, and not that the Dockerland site is the definitive site to guage the Dockers' views, but this is the interest in the WAFL GF that those visiting the Dockerland site have shown:

www.dockerland.com/index.php?option=com_...=489715&limitstart=0

For BH's benefit I can't remember the previous time I have been on the Dockerland site.

As you can see there is barely any interest from those posters.

Pretty damning all you have sited, seems the dockers are in damage control trying to get people there, don't be surprised if they offer free entry to members.

Last GF I attended was the 2008 GF between SD and Subi. Attendance 23,199 on Wikipedia. The weather that day was shite I can tell you. It was bloody freezing and rained most of the colts GF.

Following year SF v Subi 22,738

2010 that mighty GF between Claremont and SD drew 24,638

2011 Cl v Subi 15,459

2012 Cl v EF 18,612

2013 WP v EP (Eagles aligned) 20,008 Would have been close to 30,000 if it was a bona fide EP side.

2014 EP v Subi 11,987

2015 Subi v WP 13,094

Clearly to me from those statistics indicates 1. When a crowd pulling side is involved more people turn up, not only from that club but more neutrals will go. 2. Since the alignments crowds have dropped off considerably.

So two things stand out for me 1. Subiaco's continued dominance is hurting the interest in the WAFL in general and 2. The alignments have hurt the WAFL from a spectator point of view.

Yes DD subi should be banned from all future GF's, only way we'll get a decent crowd :silly:

As for the WAFC fearing a small crowd and the resulting financial hit, move the bloody game to Leederville, 8-10k there would look great on TV, gate receipts can be split between all 7 WAFL clubs and the WAFC will safe a shite load.

I think S42 mentioned that the punters at Subi will be herded to the lower levels to make it look good on TV, only problem with that is that the cameras face towards the southern side which will have a couple of dozen punters braving the elements and a few knobs up in the sponsors boxes. 95% of any wafl fixture crowd at Subi sit on the northern side. Fine weather may have seen a crowd similar to last year but if it's wet maybe 8k at best.

GF should be at either Leedy or Freo if crowds are going to be 15,000 or less, playing at Subi makes no sense and looks horrible on TV, with a vacant outer

I went along in 2013, I can say the weather was terrible that day and would of have had a bearing without a doubt, maybe 5000 or so. That combined with the alignment would of knocked several thousand off the crowd.

However I agree one teams dominance impacts as well, history tells us that.

Agree 100% said a couple of years ago the GF needs to shift, Subi is a terrible venue with a small crowd and from another era.

Leederville would be ideal.

And why would it be Leederville? If you are purely worried about the look of 8 - 10,000 at Subi Oval then why not another neutral venue like Fremantle Oval, Steel Blue Oval or even Bendigo Bank Stadium? We know you Subi lads like having advantages, you are used to it.

It's something that's foreign to your club isn't it? Suddenly going into a GF as underdogs despite being the best side in the comp all year and playing on a ground that is more familiar to the Peel/Fremantle players than Subiaco players.

But playing the GF at Subiaco Oval up until now was never a problem was it? But suddenly the other team might have an advantage so now you want it shifted. As Ma Sheila famously once said "Tough Titties".
