Surely the club didn't think they'd get to keep everything and get extra zones at the general expense of everyone else on top?

I guess its a bit like being a board member at a big company.

If you're seen to do anything but to give the biggest dividend to the stakeholder, you'll be considered incompetent.

Subi people, me included, have a "lets make up for those awful years" where we were poor, unsuccessful and considered a basket case. We've nearly made up for it I reckon? God knows they were some awful years when I was a kid.

Apparently it was just as bad in years before. Imagine Bernie Naylor kicking 23 goals against Subi on his own in one game.

That aside, I'm over all that. I just want to see an even colts comp that will satisfy all parties - including the academy people and the AFL scouts.

There are calls for massive colts changes but we can nip that in the bud with an even comp

As it stands, the stadium deal ends. Will Subi, with over 100 years of history and participation, even survive from this year on?

Worrying times. But I wish people would support me on this if they have the colts comp at heart

Well if it keeps going you'll be the only one playing in this comp - don't worry about colts then mate
Honestly the time has long passed for exclusive deals especially in this current climate & especially when it's generated from taxpayers of all denominations
Understand the Zone concerns entirely all clubs have concerns about it

RIP junior clubs from my era

Northern Districts JFC
North Innaloo JFC
Takari JFC
East Perth-Highgate JFC
Osborne Park JFC
Girrawheen-Koondoola JFC
Nollamara JFC
Police Boys JFC
Jolimont JFC

Does Karrinyup no longer exist?

I remember I played for Jolimont which merged with Wembley (I think) and then became Churchlands Wembley. Drove past Selby oval not long ago and I think Wembley Junior FC is back as a stand alone club.

There was no Subiaco Junior Football club back in those days. Now i think the Subi Junior Football club that wears the old leaping lion jumper is part of the Claremont Zone. Perhaps we could get that one back

I played juniors at Jolimont as did my bro's, started as an 8 yo back in '63, played right through till 17's, Jolimont were a very strong club often with a & b teams in each grade. We had a massive rivalry with Wembley, the clubs hated each other with a passion and finals were always tough affairs. Other teams at that time were Subi P & C, Scarborogh, Marist, Karrinyup. Kenny Ash was a Jolimont boy, dominated at junior level and was a handy league player, as well as the Joyce boys, big tough lads that lot.

Senior seagul

where did Jolimont play in the 60s. When I played with them in about 77/78 it was at Selby reserve wembley. Jolimont may have even been part of Wembley by this stage. Before they statred namimg mutiple clubs in each age group with different colours. Remember Warwick JFC was very strong by having multiple teams in each age group..Warwick Red, Warwick white etc etc

After a couple of pantsing's from Messrs Holmes and Starcevich respectively it is no wonder you went down the footy smart ass route instead of the playing side Freeze! :silly: :cheer:

LH and others -- How many league footballers have come out of Balga/Westminster? Even back in the 80s, I can only think of Laidley.

Well, thats a tough question because footy has been in decline in that area for over 20 years. Its one of the reasons West moved out to Joondalup because their zone was dying.

Since then Subi and East Perth have shared the area on and off.

Rumba of course was from Balga jfc.

Shaq McKenzie is one. Joel Corey was from Girra.

EP and S have had a handfull of players I guess.

Subi currently have a few players in their league squad from that "area" but because of the lack of teams, they had to play elsewhere. Say for a Warwick-Greenwood, A Kingsway or even Coolbinia. Jeremy Woodley is one.

The Bewick boys were all from Westminster/Balga JFC.
The Fong boys, Chris Stasinowsky & Craig Turley were from Nollamara JFC & the Lewis boys Mirrabooka tho they went to school at Christ Church Grammar.

Southerner that is true. It not simply about numbers either, it goes right down to the core of society itself, as you know, and is tied to socio-economic indicators. Claremont has the best zone, largely made up of famillies from old stock whom have played the game for decades; and, equally, from famillies whom have the financial means to play the game. Subiaco is fortunate in one sense with its zone, as it is a middle class area where money is less of an issue for parents. Good luck to the Tigers, by the way.

BH: thanks -- I also think that Higgins and Elloit were from Westminster Balga both of whom played some league football for the Falcons, now that I come to think of it.
