The 18th week fixtures were also the lowest for many years. Two very low attended rounds in succession is a worry! Currently the qualifying round attendances are over 19% down at the corresponding time from last season.
Which raises an interesting question.
Suppose crowd numbers keep plummeting, and say a total of 10 or 15% less people attend Wafl qualifying matches next season? And in the not too distant future, say only a total attendance of 1,000 or less for a round becomes the norm?
Surely the 7 Wafl clubs can't survive off tv ratings and tv sponsorship deals alone?
Just asking.

They would still survive , the gate and bar takings even in a good year only make up 10 - 15 % of incomes , all the big dough comes from WAFC redistributions and Club sponsors , if needs be it would be topped up from WAFC increase in alignment dole, extra 20 - 30 K a year each.

The comp really needs a restructure for the generational change that is now happening to go forward.

None at all.

I'd be more concerned about getting your mob competitive Grassy better that than living in the past,

I've outlined suggested changes many times in other posts.

So please explain how the WAFC "stealing" one of Claremont's sponsors to enable them to pay the massive amount of dollars to Channel 7 to telecast the WAFL.

You could put up a fair argument to say the Afl subsidises the coverage of Afl broadcast in Nsw and Qld given the relatively small numbers sustained via numbers in Vic , etc. do you know for certain Rugby Union don't chip in for coverage ?

If that's the case the ABC must be bullies as well because they paid them as well.
