The fact we are beating sanfl in terms of viewers is bloody great.

In fact our viewing is even good compared to vfl.

By all indiactors the coverage has been a success

I can remember before digital tv we had to wait for better homes and gardens to finish before we could see the Friday night afl game in delay. At least with digital stations we can see most games live.On Saturday I watched a bit of the derby before the eagles game.If it was still on the abc I wouldn't have watched it as it would have been played at the same time as the eagles game.Showcasing the game before the eagles game will hopefully showcase wafl to people who might not normally watch wafl.

Really?!You don't think they'd be at Junior Footy and/or finishing the Saturday morning shopping?

40 years ago the shops closed at 1pm no sunday shopping and only Wafl footy to watch on a saturday arvo.Oh to be a dinosaur.

What channel is the 16th placed Dockers on today?Oh,that's right,on their Main Channel, because it's Pav's 350th and it should rate 300 000 at least, with an extra 100 000 or so tuning in out of interest.

Even then 400 000 might be considered somewhat disappointing, but it ain't on the Reserves network, that's fir sure.

Oh,in case you didn't notice their schedule, some of their WAFL Telecasts were scheduled to be on their main Network, but mainly on their Reserves Channel.Or is Mate, their 3rds?!

Your a goose grassy.Yesterday not only the Wafl Derby but also ,The Eagles game and the North Melbourne game were shown on 7mate as a triple header. That is why you have digital stations to augment the main channel and not disrupt normal programming too much. Not hard to switch a channel or to look up a program guide.

So Chaddy, that's THE FREMANTLE DERBY that has to be played at the Totally Ridiculous Time of 11.30 in the bloody Morning, just to fit in with Bloody Channel 7's TV Scheduling?!

The Fixture of the WAFL Calender and you believe THE FREMANTLE DERBY has to be relegated to the Reserves' Time Slot?Who is the bigger goose here? You my friend AND Bazza, who seem to be deadset apologists for the Clowns at the WAFC and the Dictatorial sods at 7,doing what they please with us.

They aren't really interested in WAFL Footy and I put it to you, there is a hidden Aggenda with what 7 are really up to and that's pretty much to drive us to rack and ruin.Perhaps Mr Stokes,Mario and Co can tell us otherwise, but they aren't convincing me,they're doing the WAFL any favours.

You two believe what you want to,because from where you 2 sit,the tooth fairy is just around the corner. :woohoo:

Well obviously the Abc broadcast time was the reseves slot because about half the peolple bothered watching it.

As chaddy points out the early start has given exposure to far more viewers , yes the gate was down, but club and comp sponsors dont give a rats about that, they want their name exposed on commercial TV to 50 odd thousand viewers, and the club benefits from sponsor renewal and increased worth, the 100k plus alignment cash more than compensates for the drop in gate and bar sales. That and increased sponsor coverage shits on what the abc dished up.

THE FREMANTLE DERBY got relegated by 7 to the Reserves Time Slot,Bazza.

Still,if keeping the Sponsors happy it's opposed to the REAL supporters who go week in,week out are the Clubs' Priority now,it really is a poor outlook for footy if the Audience us spending money on the sponsors, rather than the clubs.

What Guarantee can you,the sponsors will cough up over and over?

At 11.30 on 7 More people watched it - despite your troglodyte refusal to accept that fact.

There was nothing stoping REAL supporters rocking up at 11.30.

No idea what your other ramble is on about.

more people watching the wafl on tv apparently, any chance the clubs can get some revenue out of a tv deal or are they and their loyal supporters just pawns to be moved around to suit ch7.

I think we all know the answers there.

Well lets hope the clubs have the marketing departments to make the most out of the additional exposure , the fact that WAFL is now drawing significantly greater viewing audiences than SANFL is a huge win for our clubs.

I am sure the clubs would prefer to be making money out of a tv deal then relying on a kid out of uni in their marketing area trying to make money for the club..

and by marketing department do you mean more than 1 person ?

Up to the clubs to get the best sponsors they can, South don't rely on just a kid there is a whole team including a director that target sponsors each year.

Not sure what you mean about making money out of the TV deal other than marketing, do you mean receiving direct payments for rights? That doesn't even happen in AFL, the AFL has the rights and get paid the quids which they spend how they want not the clubs direct.

The AFL clubs all vie for the best and biggest rating games , Friday nights etc to drag in sponsors. The doughs all in the media not the gate.

AFL clubs got a bonus of 1.2 mill in 2015 afer the last tv deal was signed, they also get a distribution each year which is reflective of the deal.

WAFL clubs get how much from their tv deal ?

How can they get anything from something that makes nothing?

Remind me how much did the ABC pay them for a fraction of the audience?

You do know the AFL get paid for the rights because that's how a market place works don't you?

Current ratings augur well for a more lucrative deal for the WAFL.

In the bizarre logic of the bitter and twisted old farts on this site , it would be better if no body watched WAFL on TV just to get the satisfaction of being proven right that Ch 7 wouldn't attract a audience and justify their brain dead selfish hatred of the WAFC, rather than seeing the positives of us out performing SANFL and WAFL getting exposure.
