I did a bit of research on the WAFL website and collated the following stats around free kicks for/against and the differential. There was a thread on here a little while ago around unconscious bias in umpires and clearly the 2 aligned teams and Subi seem to be getting a raw deal. Is this because the umps have a set against WART and FART because of their alliance to AFL clubs and Subi because of recent success? I'm not sure but it does make interesting reading....oh...and Perth and SF have played one game less than the rest but it gives an idea of how the free kicks are awarde on a team by team basis.

WP - 231/173 +58
SF - 203/157 +46
Cl - 209/165 +44
SD - 191/180 +11
P - 178/183 -5
EF - 172/187 -15
EP - 159/197 -38
PT - 137/182 -45
Subi - 162/218 -56

Interesting stats BC but meaningless unless you go into more detail as 42 has done by producing the figures of where they are paid on the ground and at what point of the games by time & qtrs!

I wouldn't say meaningless BH as a free gives the receiving team possession of the footy. It's what they do with it that counts. I tend to think where, when and how isn't all that relevant either as a game goes for 120 minutes and sure, a soft free in front of goals in the last few seconds may impact on the end result but it's what led up to that point which is more important imo.

The game yesterday was over at half-time. What is happening that frees are paid up one team's forward line that are simply not being paid in the other team's forward line for similar infringements. How can a team go without a free in their forward line for about 95 % of the match?

Thank you BC that pretty much settles it, DuckHeads have nothing to complain about, in fact they get a very good run with the umpires.

yep..agree outer...they'll roll out the old chestnut around where and when they receive their frees but at days end, if your team receives more than they give away then you're ahead of the opposition regardless of where it happens.

BC you seriously don't believe that getting 1 free kick 51 metre out in the 30th minute of the last quarter is the equivalent or better than receiving 12 free kicks and a 50m penalty resulting in at least 7 goals?

We went 80min without a free kick against the Duckers so don't complain.

42...you seriously don't believe the umps consciously award kicks to other teams in their front half and deliberately don't do the same for Swans? the stats tell us that your mob receive one free kick more than you give away on a weekly basis. Subi receives 5 less a week so I'm not sure what you're whinging about. you can single out a particular game all you like against Claremont and the telling stat there is 68 inside 50s to 30 so its no surprise you didn't get any kicks in your front half but the fact remains you bogans are in positive territory in terms of free kicks over the season thus far.

I`m very comfortable with $ubiaco getting a shit run from the maggots as $ubi are rorting everything else and deserve nothing, the last thing we need is $ubi getting any help from the slime in green either!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!
