That money was wisely invested by Kevin Merrified and then Brian Lawrence at the time and is without question the foundation for the position the club is in now. Sure current revenues from AFL games keeps the till ticking over but given the club had to pay well in excess of $2m to move to Leederville (which I might add cost the ferals nothing) it's probably a good thing. Every non-aligned club has to generate revenue to keep its head above water and I guess Subi's D-day will come when AFL games are moved to Burswood...but I have a sneaking suspicion we will be ok in the long run.

I think the ticketing arrangement does a bit more than " keeps the till ticking over" more like a hundred tills. What is it, 250 tickets every week or something? That works out to a fair bit of dough. If freo or Eagles play a home final it's probably worth something like 20 grand to subi and this is with significant bar trade on top of everything. I reckon the afl deal would be worth something like 2 to 300 grand a year for subi, not a bad return on the two million cost to go to Leederville.

Also Tiger of Old a lot of Subi supporters seem to forget that the other 7 clubs dipped in back then to keep Subi afloat.

How many flags did Subiaco win in the 1990s? Whatever the monies obtained by the club from the arrangement with the Eagles, it bought no flags. I would remind people that the club was forced from the ground by an act of parliament itself; for losing the benefit of a perfectly good lease, the club was financially compensated

It is actually called the 'rule of law'. How else would members of this nice forum have compensated Subiaco?

Not sure why the attack on Subi is here tbh , the various eras of Commish's should have built a stadium eons ago to be the home of WA footy
The mining riches over many many years should have paid for a ripper set up - that along with rail systems (much like Bjelke-Petersen did in Qld)
Subi Oval has always been a bitch of place to find parking or get in easily
