Only 4,000 viewers is a massive drop from a few years ago. It was somewhere in the order of 100,000 according to the ABC.

It dropped to 20,000 a few years ago..

Apparently 12,000 was the peak audience for this year with the Moora game last week..

Had another thought... Eventually when the WAFL is the AFLWA comp, and the teams are reduced to 4 - two AFL reserves and two from merged clubs Peel Dockers, EP Eagles, Swan Valley Demons and Fremantle Bullsharks, then the two reserves teams can play inter conference with the two AFLSA Clubs at the new stadium with Foxtel coverage.

What a win for Foxtel and the AFL.

I might be a bit behind the times but where the hell does the wafl audience figure of 4,000 come from!?
With the population of WA at say 2 million or maybe 2½ million, and the wafl audience is said to be only 4,000!?
Sounds like someone having a laugh quoting that figure.

it sounds false to me. I just dont buy it, those figures.

perhaps considering the AFL clubs have infiltrated our league , why are they not being made to promote it. This is another thing that should have been demanded from the outset. our clubs gave up too easily & meekly . Mistake after mistake one after the other, across the board. I think our competition is being run by amatures im afraid. Ive seen nothing over the past 20 odd years to think otherwise.

Should the game stay on the ABC or should it move to a commercial station. Whatever happens and who ever gets it needs to promote the upcoming game with ads during the week. There shouldn't be ads during the quarters either they should be left to quarter time and half time etc...

An idea could be to get companies to sponsor quarters and things like that mark of the day contender was brought to you buy .... and that goal .... and then there's also sponsoring the scoreboard.

Also what are peoples thoughts on a half hour or an hour weekly segment review and previewing the games.

A WAFL football show would be great Mr AFL and wouldnt it make a pleasant change to hear about real West Aussie footy rather than hearing all about drugs, tanking, draft tampering, overseas junkets, Victorian this & that, eagles can still make finals, playing finals in the bush, burning dwarfs etc etc etc coming from that so called professional league!
