Bazza on the surface it is good that they are talking about the WAFL and some of the reporting is good for the WAFL. However, and it is a big however, it is equally true that some of the reporting is done with a hidden agenda. Symptomatic of that was most of the reporting vis a vis the AFL reserves' teams was slanted towards the AFL clubs' views without a robust analysis of the accuracy and validity of the claims by the AFL clubs.

Another example of this bias in the reporting of the WAFL matches relates to the photos of ALF aligned players playing in those WAFL matches and most of the written reports concern those same AFL aligned players. This is particularly of concern when you take into account the host club alignment next year and it is fairly obvious which two WAFL clubs will get the lion share of the reporting next year.

Very well said 42. How many actual Wafl players are mentioned in the majority of media reporting? Very few of them! And so the Wafl competition will take a big back seat whereby most of the reporting will all be about the aligned teams. For example one commercial radio radio station in Perth, where 'apparently you don't miss a thing' ignores the Wafl and that will only continue. As sure as eggs, they will pursue any news on players that interest them from the aligned teams only. I'll bet my house on it! To be honest I cannot see the situation improving. Ordinary people have been misled on the benefit of this alignment and many cannot see it.

With the recent news that the seven network will be broadcasting the Sanfl from next season, I suspect 7 may do the same here. I cannot see 2 different networks broadcasting it? I still think it a shame the abc are pulling the pin on their excellent Wafl tv broadcasts. Haven't heard any recent news on the tv broadcast rights in WA, so I'm presuming abc tv are definitely out of the mix and 9 are not being considered. Will be a very sad day when abc tv lose the broadcasts.

Mate your a bit behind the news , Ch 9 and the WAFC came out last week and said they had failed to secure a sponsor to cover the $1 Million required to cover WAFL and as a result Ch 9 had pulled out.

There has been no talk of Ch 7 here at any stage,

It must stay on the ABC if at all possible.

I suspect that it will be impossible for the ABC to cover the WAFL next year if one particular side of politics, with a well known aversion to the ABC, wins the Federal election.

There is noway the ABC can justify the expense of WAFL coverage, with figures down to just 4000 viewers statewide and financial pressures regardless of who governs..

The ABC have been trying to pull out of it for years and it has only been saved by the $20,000 the WAFC pays each year to keep them in it, which is a tiny fraction of cost.

So Bazza if the ABC only have 4,000 viewers statewide why would Ch 7 or ch 9 be interested?
