intersting stats Ben. despite WCE coming out and saying attendances at EP games will lift due to the alignment WART are the least supported club when you look at the differential between home and away games with Swans and Perth being the best supported...

LaH there are a few figures which stand out: "East Perth"'s home attendance; Subiaco's home attendance and Peel's, Swan's and Perth's away attendances. Do you have an explanation for why they are so low relatively speaking? Is it a case of the imbalance between the number of home and away games at this point in time?

Yeah, interesting point mate. I think opposition supporters really like to turn up when EP play away to see them beaten and vent some frustration.

The good news is that we have actually nudged ahead of last year at the same time. Only by 7 but it's still a pleasant surprise. But the average per club per game this year is 2,169 compared to 2,162 after round 11 last year.

I'm not sure mate. I guess the main one that looks a bit weird is EP at home. Maybe some opposition supporters have followed through on their threat not to watch EP at Leederville? And I'm sure EP have lost some of their own fans.

I guess they have only played 4 at home though v CL (1517), P (1331), WP (2294), SD (1975)

It normally tends to balance out over the course of the year but this isn't a normal year really.

Having said all that I best double check EP's figures because I may have made an error.

Fortunately EP is added up correctly.

I suppose their away crowds were boosted by the 6,201 v WP on Foundation Day and the 3,440 v S on Anzac Day.

I guess there's a bit of luck with the fixturing in terms of home v away crowds. I mean for example whichever of EP, WP, EF, SF get the home derby on foundation day would surely have a good chance of getting the biggest home aggregate for the year.

Lies, damn lies and statistics. From my perspective junior days, Anzac and Foundation days are the ones that inflate the attendance. It just depends if they are home or away for EP they have all been away. I have noticed a big drop however in home numbers at our games but our supporter base still travels away in reasonable numbers. Is it worrying for the league as a whole that East Perth has the highest attendance this year even though hundreds if not thousands have jumped off. For me this makes no sense at all.

Not sure why it makes no sense to you. You've answered your own question in your post.

I don't understand your point EP is not the only one that plays on these days. The alignment has decreased EP crowds why are other teams attendance so low. It makes no sense at all to me but I guess your dealing with such tiny crowds now days one hundred people here or there makes a huge statistical difference. I'm sorry I just find the whole thing very sad indeed, the competition deserves more support because it is good entertainment.

We all wish the WAFL would get more support but at least having a few more going along this season compared to last is a start.

Can't work miracles without proper and constant promotion though.
