Dazzler wrote: Yeah don't call it a "competition" because it aint.

A competition is where all competitors compete evenly.

That's not going to be the case from 2014.

What it is is a forum for two clubs to practice, for the benefit of two clubs only. With all the rest making up the numbers and going through the motions under the 'charade' of a competition - for the benefit of two clubs only.

The WAFL clubs have been well and truly bent over by two pathetic little accountants who wouldn't know one end of a football from the other - and care even less. Evil bastards.

Good input... Yep the Eagles and Dockers will benefit having all their eggs in one basket to a degree.. Both will be in the 8 this year IMO and improve in 2014 with the arrangement. As you say Unka the AFL is a bit of a mess and is a 2 tiered comp with the ability to practically pick the AFL 8 before the season starts.
Maybe they should sort their own problems out FIRST before wrecking grass roots comps in the States that have produced the backbone for for the AFL.
The WAFL G7 will be a non comp that is tolerated as they will still produce AFL players WHO IN THE END WILL BE SENT FROM THEIR HOME CLUB to play in these 2 teams.

Self interest for the Eagles, Dockers and WAFC the expense of our great Comp that as you say will not be an even playing field. Members and Sponsers will desert the WAFL G7 clubs giving the WAFC more power over them. In a few years the WAFL G7 clubs will be back to square one and in an untenable situation :(

The WAFL history books will finish in 2013. Our traditions will finish in 2013.

Surely the leaders of the G7 are now happy with the cards that have been dealt and a more than happy with the outcome.
They seem happy enough with the outer zone recruiting as it is at the moment.
I think maybe it is time to move on and let see how it pans out.I believe it is a work in progress.

Of course a Dockers or Eagles supporter will say that. Goes without saying.
All slanted in their favour. I can see Peel and EP getting a lot of these people on board as well. What a bonus. They can follow their team and also goto the Peel or Dockers games to watch the leftovers play there.
Would they be classed as WAFL fans? I think not.

Be interesting to see if the clubs can turn a profit with the bigger hand out.

anchorman wrote: So now your screaming about the fact that maybe just maybe these clubs will attract morepeople to the WAFL games!!!
What difference does it make if they are people who know nothing about the WAFL!!They will learn as they go to Peel and East Perth games. They will soon be told by people such as yourself and other here just what the WAFL means. They will go see Peel play the Falcons and learn. They will go see Swans,Souths who ever play and come to appreciate just what the WAFL is.They will see how good the WAFL players are.
Yo are in denial about the lack of spectators going to games ,yet yell like stuck pigs because people will now be going!!!
Gimme a break.

Ankor, at least a voice reason to join with me, yes the odds are that Peel and EP will be more competive more often but The tigers and EF with Souths and Swans should catch up fast, as for the crowds we will all have to wait and see but from the folks I have spoken to abt the WAFL a few more seem to be interested.

Wait and see is all I can say

Waiting will make it harder to get out of the hole. As this saying says

He who hesitates is lost

Meaning: The person who waits too long loses the opportunity; or, more seriously, delay or indecision may have disastrous results.

I am and have always been a dedicated supporter of the WAFL and I attend WP matches each week.

Whilst, the alignment doesn't give me a buzz, I really think that there has been a huge improvement in the WAFL since the alignments of the 1999-2002.

I actually think EP and Peel won't be stand-outs as some may think. I think we are underestimating the improvements to WAFL clubs in areas like training, development, administration, player skill levels and the likes.

The WAFL has enjoyed renewed support in recent years and whilst crowd numbers may not reflect this, there is a general feel around the footy supporting public that this competition is very important and necessary for the goodwill of football in WA.

I am optimistic that the G7 will be more than competitive against the aligned clubs.

With all due respect anchor, I think the highlighted statement is erroneous. I get a feeling that the G7 presidents were out after the best $ deal, as they knew we were a beaten cause. I believe that this last bit of shown bravado was simply a grasp at attempting to salvage what would look like a win and saving our humiliation. Thanks east eagles and peel dork scum  Karma can be cruel.

Shark I thought it was all about money!!!Maybe I was wrong .but I don't think so.They have taken the money in both hands without hesitation. It may not be really what they want, but they were never going to get it where the AFL side didn't have their sides in the WAFL in some way.
I don't understand why those here, who see the Dockers reserves or second tier players as wasted space, are worried about Peel.
Lets face it the WAFL has needed a shot in the arm for some time now.most clubs appear to be in debt,so there can't be much working for them at this stage.
I don't see the two clubs, Peel and East Perth, being they bogey man sides most defeatists here are saying they will be.
Jimmy, I think all and sundry realise that the WAFL is a much needed competition to breed players, but there needs to be some adjustments as to how it can survive, other then in its present state.

The reason you have been heckled on this topic constantly is because you dont even attend WAFL games yet you are trying to tell all of us regulars this is the right decision ..the only reason you are in favour of this garbage host club crap is because your beloved Freo want it badly therefore it must surely be in the best interests of the WAFL!!

Geez BH,you don't even know who I am and yet you seem to think you know whether I attend the WAFL games or not.O wish I had your insight into all and sundry here. You are like S&S from FG,think you know it all.Got news for ya buddy. You have NFI.

You admitted on FG you dont even attend the WAFL you silly old fool!
So why would anyone who has the WAFL's (not freo or WCE) best interests at heart listen to someone who hasnt attended a WAFL game in years?
