I reckon Peel knew this rule was coming and made hay while they could.

The needle returns to the start of the song, and we all sing along like before!
So called football commission will be happy to hear people have given up. They'll love that!

Yep, I agree. Doesn't seem be much mileage left in the argument.
We all move on and support our own club.

Yes, very well said Cardy.
Most of the general populus are being conned, but hey, everyone's being blinded by all the cash that has suddenly materialised and being thrown around like bloody confetti. Where has all the damned cash been hiding in previous years? No the presidents have not done enough! Look on the bright side though, you still have your club for another 12 months. The club I've supported for the past 4oo hundred years has suddenly been taken from us. I loved the wafl because it was exactly that. It was the wafl. The 29th of October will always be remembered as a sad day. I guess we'll have good memories of the wafl. It's heart-breaking we've lost it!

Cardy wrote: It is still a bullshit deal and is detrimental to the WAFL as a Whole.
The barstards wanted to have two AFL Clubs in our comp - lost that but in the ends still have it. We are being conned big time.
I feel 2013 WILL be the last WAFL season for me as after that it is not an even playing field. Money will not make a difference.

The presidents although trying hard for a good deal have not done enough.
I will no longer be a WPFC member after 2013.. RIP WAFL.

Furthermore what the hell is Cooper concerned for about whether the former clubs known as EP & Peel are competitive or not ..ffs they should have thought about that before signing up to be AFL Reserves teams & destroying the fabric of the WAFL!

Agree with all of that. My first thought when this went through was surly they can't recruit out if their zone. It took way too long for that rule to go through. Yet EP and Peel were fighting against that. Fair dinkum EP should be ashamed of themselves. Dogs

Extract West Australian 27 Jan

WAFC chairman Frank Cooper and G7 spokesman Haydn Raitt hailed the agreement last night and called for everybody to get on with the business of playing and promoting the 2013 WAFL season.

"The players they (East Perth and Peel) have got now will play with them. There is no migration of those players at this stage," Raitt said.

"What we are concerned about is if that they do start off too strong and end up one and two in the first year, we will have members and sponsors thinking it is a contrived competition and not having a bar of it.

"We are happy and it is now important that we push forward and make sure that our sponsors get behind the WAFL now and our members join up."

Cooper labelled the outcome a "reasonable starting point" that would be under regular review.
"We are happy and it is now important that we push forward.""G7 spokesman *Haydn Raitt *

So the deal is done.. More money (its only money and they have plenty of it) As another poster said why wasnt this money used to support the clubs in previous Years?
So they can only recruit from their region :( Gee thats tough as most WAFL clubs only recruit from their region anyway with a couple of imports who are of a unknown quality. Peel and EP will still have a NICE base of Fremantle and Eagles players which far exceeds any amount of imports at WAFL G7 clubs and they are not current AFL players!!

What ever way you look a it the WAFL loses credibility and is Tainted as a competion. Lets hope the G7 club sponsers dont see it that way as the money will then be negated to the WAFL G7 clubs.

I see it as a Win lose situation that achieves nothing.
Peels 2013 results will be a good indicator as they will have up to 8? AFL players already before the official alignment. They werent that far off last year so this will certainly boost their chances. Cooper and his cronies will be a bit embarresed if this is the case as it will give a good indication that the Alignment teams will be superior to the WAFL G7 teams

Just my assessment and I could be wrong.

Yeah don't call it a "competition" because it aint.

A competition is where all competitors compete evenly.

That's not going to be the case from 2014.

What it is is a forum for two clubs to practice, for the benefit of two clubs only. With all the rest making up the numbers and going through the motions under the 'charade' of a competition - for the benefit of two clubs only.

The WAFL clubs have been well and truly bent over by two pathetic little accountants who wouldn't know one end of a football from the other - and care even less. Evil bastards.

Agreewith this, though ever since accountants/money became the most importnat thing in the "sport" its alla joke. Heck even the "elite" ( read AFL) aint a fair competition. Soon we wont have to watch matches anyway...we can just VOTE viaphone who we want to win, and the winner will be the team that gets most votes ( insert sarcasm)
