What are you talking about with Garstone? He has been a part of Perth Colts for 3 years

Let's say it was your own son playing at WAFL level...would you prefer him to stay at your WAFL club rather than be drafted by Freo or WC?

Looking at another angle, if you have a son growing up in the east Perth or peel zone, as I do, then you would sure as Hell rather be in another zone as their chances of making it to wafl league level are compromised.

Very true Tiger. I'd be asking for a transfer asap for that very reason.

To get this thread back on topic here are a few titbits which I have gleaned over the weekend. Apologies to Cardy and others who I know have posted some of this stuff on other threads.

1. Dayle Garlett has apparently attracted interest from 4 or 5 AFL clubs but not from the Eagles or Dockers, so looks like Dayle will have to go east to get an opportunity.

2. Mitch Morton is an excellent pick up for the Dee's. Wonder if they will go for the trifecta and try and poach Cale from East Perth.

3. Josh Mellington will not be going to Peel if he can be traded back to a Victorian club!

4. Tom Ledger may be coming back to Claremont if he cannot get another AFL opportunity

5. Most Fairest and best winners have been lauded on other threads but one I thought I would mention is the East Perth winner of the F.D Book medal who was Brendan Lee. I was just thinking through the implications of the alignment on the prestige of this award. Just say an Eagles player wins it next year do you think they will treasure it as much as Lee has in 2013? The reason is that winning a WAFL club F and B would probably mean that you are not at the forefront of the Eagles selectors thoughts? Just putting it out there........

OK anything else that people are hearing?

That's back to back B&F wins for Brendan Lee in different state league competitions. What an effort. Very stiff to not still be on an AFL list.

Yeah every time I've seen him against Swans he has played well. I wonder if he still has a AFL chance as a mature age rookie as per Kane Mitchell?

Back to back to back actually. EP in 2011, Bendigo in 2012 and EP in 2013.

Remarkable considering the amount of players who go into AFL clubs as Rookies etc etc .. Get to play a couple of games and then are dropped after a very short career.
To many chiefs and not enough indians I reckon. You see cases of these players comming back to state comp and they are way above the rest and definately could take a spot of a few of the players on the listed players at a lot of AFL clubs... Always give 110 %
Melbourne would be a better team with a few of our WAFL champions thrown in but the insist on running with the same crowd... Not so in the management area - gee never saw half of them running on to play football? AFL POLITICS AND MANAGEMENT

One of the positive that has come out of the alignment is the G7 clubs will have NO AFL players in them so they can run on with a set side each week and not worry about AFL club interference. It could even make better sides of them. Peel and EP wont rate in my book and I will only be rating the G7 Clubs anyway who will basically be independent of the AFL clubs. Now thats good.

But like 2003 it will be decided by the WAFC/AFL/WAFL that the alignment is a failure and we will come back to the players being allocated to the G7 clubs.
Give it 2 years because the 2 alignment clubs will not Function as independant clubs. Gee going to be interesting when EP runs on with 4 Eagles RUCKMEN and their regular ruckman Johnson (nah he will play reserves) in the side. What a mess. Dawson will have no say either as the Eagles will select the side each week along with everything else all he would be is a PUPPET in the box making match day decisions IF HE IS LUCKY AND DOESNT HAVE AN A EAGLES ASSISTANT COACH TELLING WHAT TO DO..

Bring it on B)

Some of you, particularly Growler, may be interested to hear that Kody Manning's appeal has been partially upheld. His suspension was reduced from four weeks to three weeks.
It's important to note that, had the incident happened at any other time during the season, the final penalty would have been two weeks. But the WAFL has adopted the AFL's policy of a "Grand Final loading", which adds a week to any suspension which emanates from the GF.
The three week suspension seems a little harsh, but when you consider it is the equivalent of two weeks, then perhaps it's not so bad as it first seemed to WP supporters.

Growler wrote: Speaking of Manning ... I wonder who is aware that the Tribunal/commission saw fit to suspend the boy for FOUR WEEKS over the bump on Grands Final Day!! -- Un F.....G believable!!!!!
This has certainly slipped under the radar comment wise by all and sundry and is outrageous

I believe the Magistrate at the initial appeal over a two week suspension (ridiculous enough)saw fit to increase the rating of the incident to High over light and said he believed it was intentional - not bad since Bennell was up and running after 10 seconds / no head contact / no outward effect on the young mans game, just a day on the park as far as he was concerned I am told.

WP is going to appeal this raping of fair sentencing this coming week - lets hope that decency invades this current old man magistrates thoughts for the next meet and as I think there are two other judges on the appeal night at least a 2-1 will see Manning get a better result .. have any of the tribunal judges/magistrates actually played the game or is this politics in action once again?
GO West Perth .... :woohoo:
