Maybe a simple change of the WAFL logo that is more inline with the AFL branding is a good start. The current WAFL logo is not traditional and the old yellow and black one is dated. The addition of the 'W' on the AFL logo is what I am suggesting.

The logo should then be used on ALL merchandise to make the clubs, WAFL logo and competition instantly recognisable.

That's what I think ...

Yeah look, really the current WAFL badge is out of step with the times..

And really is AFL WA really that different to WAFL or WA AFL its just a reshuffle of letters, but would be a huge marketing improvement, along with a change to AFL Colours,,,big time sponsors like Toyota and CUB would come on board as subsidary sponsors.

Call me thick but why is Medibank Stadium called the home of the WAFL? Subiaco and East Perth ground share and as far as I am aware the WAFL or WAFC do not operate out of the ground.

The majority of people who follow AFL only in WA couldn't give two F**** about the WAFL. So the name change to AFLWA will not make those people start going to a second tier comp.I agree with Mike a logo change would be in order, start looking at what West Perth have done 6195 people were at that game on the weekend. Just to hand it over to the AFL, we will lose it's unique and loved brand of football the WAFL die hard's will just simply walk away, than it will be back to 400 maybe 500 to each game.I know a lot of Swan Districts members are not in favor of this proposal that Douglas and Dawson are trying to put up. Save The WAFL NO it will just kill it off.

That's what happens though when you give out 30000 free tickets, of course people are going to go.

So your saying they Gave away 30,000 free tickets and only about 6000 from the 30000 turned up....so that's 24000 that didn't. ...and the gate taking was zippo,,,,oh well gotta try something...might as well just make it free entry...

But have that as an official attendance is highly misleading if they were all give aways...

$15000 really? That's a big amount for a club. Especially for one who failed to show up for the colts game and didnt appear after half time in the league.

So a name change is now apparently a good idea?
What the hell are people thinking for gods sake?
The stupid name being put forward is insulting to say the least!
For example, when in Tasmania on holiday, their state league footy has been lost too several years ago I noticed. The standard of footy over there I thought was good. Sad to say their attendance figures are worse than the wafl! A name change hasn't helped the Tassie competition. Won't be any bloody help here either! The Wafl being ignored by the majority of the media is not helping the competition!. And simply changing the name to the stupid idea put forward won't change that fact.

I'm not a fan of the name AFL WA, it's crap. Footy Commission is welcome to it if they want to rename themselves.

The WAFL name could actually still be quite marketable. It has the AFL in the acronym which is now (like it or not) identifiable with the game of Australian Rules.

If anything should change, the logo really needs looking at. Bring it in line with the help of the AFL to something that is recognisable. This would be good for footy in general.

Even watching Fox Footy last night there was reference to the WAFL as the WAFL, the VFL as the seconds.
