I think the question is which WAFL player would not love to have a run in the AFL? All the names listed above would jump at the chance.

Suicide for any WAFL club preventing one if its players not pushing up to AFL.

Let's not forget that while we're letting players go up into the AFL to cover Freo and WCE Covid and injury out's, our own clubs will have the same issues meaning we could have a whole host of players not in the WAFL on any given week.

Yep BC, Im hearing the WAFL are talking about delaying the start to the season to avoid peak COVID &/or scraping the ressies comp for 2022 to support the League.

Cant really see either option working.

Eagles and Dockers can choose 20 players each from WAFL clubs.

WAFL clubs will receive $1000 per game they play and $10,000 if the player gets injured and misses the remainder of the season.

Players will receive up to $1000 per week if they are called up for training and $4k per game they play.

The two AFL clubs can bring players in to train when their list gets down to 30 available and can't play them until their available list gets down to 28.

Thats going to be attractive for some of the younger guys but most WAFL players have fulltime jobs so they will also need permission from their employers to get time off to train with an AFL team who are fulltime operators, not part time like the WAFL who train after work.

10k for a season ending injury, there will probably be some, going straight up to the big league from the little league without any prep

It's the detail in the last paragraph that I have a problem with here. I'll use my club Claremont who are aligned to Freo as an example. So if I'm reading this correctly, Freo can have 28 players on their list fit and available for selection but they could overlook some of those players and choose Jye Bolton, Bailey Rogers or Declan Mountford in the 22 instead of contracted Fremantle players?? Well that's ridiculous, surely it should be when an AFL club has less than 22 players available for selection they can dip into their "zone?" Too bad if some 19yo kid isn't ready for AFL, they have to play its their time. Just like in country footy where it's not uncommon for a 14yo or a 55yo to fill in for the League team because they need an 18😀

Wonder how much EF got for losing 3 players last minute?......probably a pat on the back for helping WCER 2022 fortunes.

I am totally against this recruiting players in March bullshit also Freezin but atleast they are receiving a proper AFL contract and list spot. This covid recruiting business when an AFL club actually has CONTRACTED players available for selection is a bridge too far.
