From my memory of that era, Perth's attendance and following was pretty much one of the smallest going around, them and Subi..

Subi's and the seasons lowest I think was around the 2800 in 1980, anything around the 3000 mark was a very small poor crowd in that era.

The average was around the 10K or just less mark for most games across the board.

And those days of good crowd numbers seem a long long time ago.
Last weeks total crowd number for the four matches being just under 6½ thousand. Which equates to an average of about 1620 at each of the grounds.

Yep even after the eagles, in late 80s we were still getting 3000-4000 average a game; then the dockers came and knocked the crap out of the comp, and the fans got a whole heap older and faded away over 20 years as well.

And who was at the WAFC and was first hand involved in the introduction of Fremantle & Peel which both did irreparable damage to WAFL attendances- Duddington and he is back there again!

The introduction of Peel was and continues to be a failed experiment. Not only did the WAFC have to pull them out of the shit financially, if it wasn't for the Freo alignment they wouldn't have won more than a handful of games in 10 years....plus the fact they completely stuffed up the season on season fixtures. I'd like to know who at the WAFC was responsible and which clubs voted for it as they should all be held to account.

Big chance for the WAFL over the next few weeks when the AFL leaves Perth and doesn’t look like coming back . Some massive promotion over the next few weeks could see 4000/5000 crowds at the WAFL with noAFL to compete with.

The WAFC wont promote the WAFL because the AFL doesn't want any other comp competing with them even though we are now a small state comp, you cant increase what doesn't exist. Might see a bit more in the papers but that wont be coming from the commish, they will be busy planning their trips to Brisbane for the finals and ensuring they get a re-entry exemption from the state government, "keep our snouts in the trough" is the WAFC's mission statement.

Perth had the deciding vote and got them in.

SFFC and SDFC voted against them the Eagles and the Dockers. The only two clubs to say no to all three.
