Let's face it, the season is compromised. It's a write-off. Start again next season.

This from an interview with John Townsend this afternoon on Sport FM.

"About a quarter of WAFL clubs income comes from the WAFC, most of which is supplied by the AFL. If that was to half or go back to zero, which is a possibility, the viability of these clubs will be put on the chopping block."

I think the money we get is a percentage of money made via the AFL. It's not a fixed fee. So naturally a 17 game home and away season will generate less revenue a 22 game season would.

Are they saying we wont get AFL funds ?

If that happens clubs will go to the wall.

This is all about protecting the AFL. Mini draft is so much easier if teams are not playing. Imagine the uproar if your best 3 were suddenly lifted into the AFL. Not playing? no one really cares. Much simpler and quieter.

There will be no WAFL this year and it will also be a chance for the WAFC to reconfigure the game. Goodbye to reserves footy. More womens games, etc.

TF what gets me is how do they believe this 'mini draft' for players suffering from coronavirus will work?
If any players contract the virus then their team, opposition, staff, the comp will have to go into self isolation!
And yet they are happy to bring in an outsider to their virus riddled club/league?
The Vics-v/afl are only thinking of themselves and their cash strapped clubs yet again and to buggery for everyone else.
This is why we need an independent wafc away from the afl tentacles that will fight for what is right for WA football not Victoria.

The AFL want no State leagues to go ahead so they can use top-up players from the WAFL to replace AFL players when they fall sick from the virus.

Yes that is pretty obviously their agenda Roman but if players come down with the virus then the whole League goes into recess so then what is the point of this mini draft?
