All WAFL Clubs have 500+ members already with an average crowd 3 times larger than the 500 people limit on gatherings.

Doesn’t mean all members go and some are country memberships. The point is it will limit the numbers but still give access to those who are diehards. The risk would be close to zero of someone contracting corona virus with 1000 or less at a WAFL ground.

By diehards, you mean long term WAFL supporters? Most diehards would be in an age demographic that makes them the most susceptible to the virus being fatal?

Good plan!

But at this stage there are very few known cases of COVID 19 in Perth - and i could be wrong, but those known cases are thought to have been contracted/caught when travelling overseas. It may be more prudent to cancel non essential travel to Europe for example (described by the WHO as the centre of the pandemic outside of China) and try and get on with things here as normal as possible in the meantime - which would include allowing a few thousand spectators to go along to a WAFL match.

You hear new bits and pieces about the Corona every day.I heard today it's more aggressive in colder climates. Northern Hemisphere ATM.

Well viruses survive better/longer in the cold apparently. Things are about to explode in the UK - the response there to this was too slow. But the US response, with their idiot president disbanding the global health security team responsible for preparing for a pandemic two years ago, has been even worse. On 26 February Trump claimed that total cases will be “close to zero” - they are now well past 1,300 cases with at least 38 deaths.

Well 7 News tonight said the mass gatherings over 500 are no longer a recommendation it is going to be state law so that’s it. Crowdless WAFL matches in 2020 and the way they’re talking it will be at least the entire season. Fuck China!!

Yep you’re probably right mate. I can’t believe this shit, never ever thought I wouldn’t be able to go to the footy. So much for Xi Ping Pong and his big showboating military parades. You can’t even look after your own citizens you useless fuck and now it’s fucked the whole world.

I cannot see it being a hundred. Apparently the separation rule is a metre. Even if the separation rule is implemented, one would think more than a 100 could attend. But then again, who knows what officialdom is up to.

Be ironic if Perth win their first flag since 1977 this year and the season is played behind closed doors....though got a feeling the Perth fans will happily take that scenario too....I know us EF fans would take it to end our current flag drought.

The VFL has just indefinitely suspended the season.

Shit...that's big news Ted...you'd think if the WAFC follows suit and suspends the WAFL indefinitely it'll never recover and that'll be the end of it. :(

What a shambles...

No EPL or SPL on the weekend - had bugger all to watch.

AFL looking suspect, with some sort of condensed scedule no fans

A league playing on - no fans, wont impact much.

and now no WAFL to look forward to
