Pretty sure he can play because its the next grade down from where he qualified.

no he is ok to play reserves.

The rule says if you have played 5 club games you can only play for the highest team you played in and can't be dropped but if you played 5 league you can be dropped to reserves.

Yes, but only if League and Reserves play on the same day. If League are knocked out, then he will not be able to play in Reserves because he qualified in the higher grade.

The player can only play A Grade, irrespective if teams are playing on the same day.

Happy to paste the by-lays pertaining to finals eligibility. Not sure where the confusion is. Are you hoping for pictures in the revised by-laws?



a) To be eligible to play finals a player shall play five qualifying matches over five rounds of fixtures for his club in the current year.
b) The grade a player is permitted to play finals is as follows:
i. A player is permitted to play in any higher grade final.
ii. A player is permitted to play in any grade final provided he has played five qualifying matches in the respective grade he intends to play.
iii. A player who plays in a finals match of a higher grade is permitted to play in a lower grade final (after the higher grade is eliminated) as long as the player has played five qualifying matches in that lower grade.
iv. A player who has played less than five qualifying matches in a grade is only permitted to play finals in the highest grade in which he has played.
v. Where a club has more than one team playing in a final on the same day a player from a higher grade may play for the lower grade provided it is the club’s NEXT LOWEST GRADE TEAM, except those players stated in 34.1(b)(iv) and 34.2(b)(iii).

Sounds to me like Whitfords are trying to claim that they only picked the player because the waafl said they could.

Obviously didn't happen in this case as if this was true Whitfrods would not have been thrown out.

More so a piece of advice, if you don't know, call the WAAFL.

Perhaps Doe you should log into one of your other profiles so you can agree with yourself.

Perhaps it is just a coincidence that I have heard rumours that Whitfords tried to dispute the decision using this very reason.

I only have the one account - I was responding to and agreeing with Whitey.

Don't think the WAAFL had time to deal with finals eligibility disputes this week. Had a lot more important matters on there hands.
