That's been the rules for a few years now. The WAAFL sends out multiple emails about it including "frequently asked questions". Oversights are not an excuse.

Maybe the integrity unit found something to do. I agree with whitey the rule has been in place for some time and the WAAFL regularly sends out emails to clubs advising who is eligible for what grades come finals time. It appears that ignorance has cost a few sides......

We have a player in our Club in almost that situation. Had he been fit to play, he would have played League though.

So what happens if you League and 4ths are playing only. The rule is there so you can not stack your 4ths with reserves players.

The rules where even worse some time back when you had to have played more games in the lower grade you were dropping down into. That was a nightmare to manage and it became easier once they introduced the 5 game rule.

I do not mind the rules - they have to put something in place to stop teams trying to stack their lower grades come finals.

Ignorance is not an excuse. I have read the By-Laws and they are crystal clear and do not require any interpretation.

You can not drop players more than one grade than lowest grade they have qualified for.

If you have a player that has qualified for BR at what point did you think that they would be able to play D2R.

The law as been in place for a number of years - no point trying to blame the waafl or anyone else.

Your fairly one sided with your opinion on the by-laws. Why don't you post a copy of the finals eligibility section and let everyone read the mess they are.

They will be re-written prior to the start of next season.

The By Laws have improved for the better in recent times. In 2011 I missed the first 13 games of the season. I came back and played 3 reserves games and 2 league games to end the home and away season. Our league team made finals and lost the GF while our ressies missed out on finals altogether. Under the By Laws at the time I was not eligible to play finals as I hadn't played 5 games in the same grade despite wanting to play in the highest grade our club had.

So if a player was to play say 10 league games for the year, 4 reserve games. Then come week 1 of the finals the league and ressies are both playing. the player misses league selection. Is he not eligible to play reserves even though he wasn't selected in league? Woiuld be rough.
