It was another interesting round of football, but as teams tuned up for finals some games meant very little. Kingsway defeated Quinns, Whitford grabbed second spot with a win over Mt Lawley, Collegians defeated by Melville but not by enough to grab second spot and North Freo finished the season off strong will a well fought win. Wanneroo took on Wembley and it was an interesting contest.

The day started with a twist, MrM was able to sleep in as the Colts were playing a night game and it meant more time to watch the Olympics and see the Women's 800 metre swimming World Record smashed.
MrM arrived and wondered what Wanneroo were doing as he saw them stroll out from the State Netball Centre (apparently that's where the Away changerooms were located) some 200 metres from the playing surface...luckily having previously once played at two local clubs West of the Mitchell Freeway who have change rooms that reside in the next postcode, it was no issue for Wanneroo having to walk this distance to play some football.

Well for the Reserves they didn't play any football. From the outset they were completely outclassed and out matched. Wembley virtually did as they pleased as Wanneroo ended the season with an 80 point defeat.

MrM would like to thank Wembley's canteen as it was pumping and thriving in their new facility. The hot chips were nice and crispy, and MrM and his hamburger were a pleasant treat. 8/10...
The bar, no words could do it justice. 10/10. I do not need to add any more.

The League game was a surprisingly good contest right from the first quarter. Wembley got the early jump on Wanneroo, but Wanneroo fought back late in the quarter and reduced the lead. In the second quarter Wanneroo managed to grab the lead for a period as they strung together some good football.

The second half was again close as Wanneroo's coach managed to keep them in the contest right up until the final siren as he kicked 6.4 before bowing out as a player and coach for one final time. Unfortunately Wanneroo couldn't manage to get the win and they lost by a few goal. Wembley are looking very ominous and should be a favourites come finals time. That's if they don't go out in before the Prelim final again....

The colts rounded out our day as Wanneroo took out the game and secured themselves a week off and top of the ladder.

All in all a great day and great season...looking forward to finals.

Sorry for poor write up...MrM used all his energy watching Usain!

Here's hoping that you can continue the write-ups into the Finals.
A little birdy has told me that a team in the B Reserves has been doing some naughty things during the year and might be losing competition points. Have you heard any rumours from your potato-growing contacts?

No silly Sunday as of yet...but recovered from Saturday night well.

I have not...but if you care to elaborate, I might be able to check.
I know Kingsway were stripped of points v Mt Lawley in Round 7. But haven't heard anything else as of yet. Given how the season finished they'd be mightily upset about that too...cost them second spot on the ladder.

It appears Wembley didn't score against Whitford in Round 16, and also didn't score against Quinns in Round 15 either.

Wembley stripped off 2 games vs Whitfords and Quinns.
Hard to get a kick for Wembley when your in Sydney at the time.....

Very interesting. Now means Kingsway are out of finals and Quinns in.

Did they play a player under a false name?
Because as we have learnt in the past...that never works!

A smarter option would have been playing with 21...and placing him on the team sheet. Like Peel Thunder did in Reserves.

Not sure Mr M they did name him and he was in a different state for 2 weeks.....

Can only assume someone played under a dodgy Mr M.....

Surely if they have done this 2 weeks in a row it is a blatant disregard of the rules (cheating for a better word) especially for a side that lost 1 game all year - certainly grounds to have them thrown out of the finals i believe
