Police Officers receive No Public Holidays , they are rostered on all these days as per normal, including Christmas and Easter etc, please note there are no "shift penalty" paid if you work a Christmas Day etc unless it falls on a weekend, or is Night/Arvo Shift, in other words its a normal day.

In Lieu of that they are give 10 days extra annual leave - so 4 normal plus 2 weeks for compensation for the public holidays.

In terms of Sick Leave, unlike all other worker Police Officers are NOT entitled to Workers Compensation, i.e. if you are injured on the job you don't get normal paid workers comp or a payout. In lieu of that Officers are granted a max of 6 months paid sick leave a year, please not this does NOT accumulate. Also as no workers comp is paid the employer covers medical costs.

Thanks for the info Bazza. As I said it was not to have a go at the police. With respect to the lack of workers' compensation that is a disgrace.

Charging their customers a fee,if they don't spend their own money, the way a bank would expect them to.

Now,where would those fees go,I wonder?

Did I hear call a Royal Commission into the banks?
