BC, I hear what you are saying but I feel we can't keep giving in to these people. In saying these people I don't mean aboriginal people, I'm talking about these far left activists such as the greens and others who feel society and Australia is such a terrible place. They achieved same sex marriage after hoodwinking many into their way of thinking and it won't stop with changing Australia day. The more they are given the more they want.

Goodness ........... I can hear Pig Iron Bob in the background:
The takeover of South Vietnam would be a direct military threat to Australia and all the countries of South and South-East Asia. It must be seen as a part of a thrust by Communist China between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
old pig iron bob was right -- the CCP has embarked on a big imperial push in the region. It has even affectted our politics, costting one senator, rightly, his job.

I know I spoke against moving it 12 months ago based on appeasing a small minority but I guess a year on, I'm not really fussed either way. It's a day to celebrate all that is good in this nation and if as we're hearing it upsets our first Australians, then I'm not against having it on another day as imo it's the background reason for having Australia Day not the date itself. Open to others opinions as mentioned earlier, I'm not fussed either way.

Oh and btw....there's some pretty funny historical banter on this thread if you take the time to go through it... :P

Fair enough Cesspit but for mine, I guess the theme and purpose of the day is more important than the date.

the British landed on the 26 January 1788, you can't celebrate it on another day without making Australia a laughing stock. Shorten has come out and supportted the day so should everybody else. He has done so as he knowas the country does, Greens excluded.

One day we will stop celebratting 8 May 1945 because it offends the ethnic Germans in Australians.

smoke, sorry about that, but sometimes you have to make a point in a forceful way. Let us hope that they will remain slow learners on such issues and leave us all alone.

This is just another crock of leftist pinko shit. I read somewhere that there was a survey of 1400 (or was it 14000) people surveyed. There’s 25 mil people in Aussie ffs so this is in no way an indicative slice of Australian opinion. Also, where was the poll taken? In a heavy Muzo populated area, Aboriginals only, Sarah dickwit,s backyard? Take a look around on the 26th, just about everyone from school kids to pensioners are wearing Aussie gear or just simply celebrating the day. It’s just another rigged poll by the fkwits of the world. Like others I’m sick of this minority group trying to change our great countries traditions. Perhaps we all should check our birth dates in case they insult some fucker!!!

Changing the day will do nothing to alter history or the state of Aboriginal Welfare today, further it ignores totally the fact of the contribution of the first fleeters and convicts.

Did things get better for them on the 27Th? or the 1 March ?? no, every day was the same after the 26 of Jan as far as the Blackfellas are concerned.

I'm all for having a Aboriginal Day , BUT we have that don't we, Sorry Day a whole bloody week of NAIDOC , AFL NRL indigenous rounds , it goes on and on, made up welcome to country stuff...etc etc...

Great , but Im stuffed if my ancestors contribution is going to be painted out of the picture by getting rid of Oz Day...

The yanks have Thanksgiving for the arrival of the Pilgrims, and Columbus Day for Christopher Columbus , we should have OZ Day and return WA Day to FOUN
DATION Day.

What happened on the 26th January, 1788 has no relevance for WA. It is as simple as that.

Last time i looked WA was part of AUSTRALIA, surely we can all celebrate as ONE on this day without petty differences??

Apart from when it comes to the GST.
