It is astounding that arguably Australias best two states in term of weather (Queensland and Western Australia) doesnt have daylight savings.

Agreed, it is absolutely absurd that we do not have daylight saving here in the West! Only because of the backward hicks in rural WA.
I've just been to Melbourne and they handle it well.
It is just a matter of time and it WILL come back and hopefully a future Premier has the balls to just do it and forget rubbish referendums etc. I would have voted for Matt Birney for this reason alone and I'm a Labor voter!
Fuck we are backward in this state

In saying that I do not support Roe 8, and my local good for nothing council actually did worthwhile and has come out against it.

McGowan is canning it anyway.

The stadium, hospitals, trains, roads, cops, constant source of whinging - they should try living elsewhere - we are bloody lucky to live here.

As for day light saving, fark me how many votes do we have to have on it. In my life it has been on and off for decades. Personally I am not a fan of it, its totally unsuited to the WA climate, fine for cooler places, but when you have a 40 deg day and a run of hot weather its pretty ordinary, as the day is just to long and hot, getting home when its cranking at the hottest part of the day, on a hot Perth day you seek relief at sunset not to make the day longer.

Daylight saving was invented in England - summer time , in a piss weak climate that never gets above 25 deg, fine for there but totally unsuited to a hotter climate.

In saying that - if the majority voted for it, I would accept it and live with it and not whinge.

Haha "its totally unsuited to the WA climate" WTF? It makes zero difference, the day ain't gonna get any hotter with D/L saving!!  Thats almost as bad as the curtains will fade argument, or the cows won't mik! Hahaha absurdity!

total crap, its been roundly rejected numerous times in WA , Qld doesn't have it either. We don't want or need it here for all the reasons give, Melbourne is like England and hardly has a summer unlike here , If you cant accept the majority view - move to pommie land if you want summer time in the rain an hour earlier.

Nup the last vote was the strongest ever against it 54.5%, in all the refs and since then the latest poll support has slipped to just 38%, surprisingly the strongest against vote is from the younger voters, so good luck with that in 10 yrs!

Take no notice of polls.
If you look at who did and didn't vote for if there is an increase in coastal living it will influence the vote.
Coastal population increases by 10% you will have a swing to more voting for it and development is geared towards the coast.

It was only the small population towns in the country who voted against because of all the mythical reasons that you espoused earlier!
Fact is the majority of people in the city voted for it where most people reside and where business operates

So you think that if the MAJORITY of WEST AUSTRALIANS don't think along your lines that they should be overruled by the MINORITY? Simply because you have a private agenda? So you boys that are "Perth Whingers", learn to live with what we have and stop criticising people that have an opposing view. As for your comment about "country hicks", what a small minded, bigoted and pompous person you must be Swandog. I thought better of you, but once again I was wrong!!!!
