I generally don't mind Colin Barnett, I don't vote for his party but I do find myself agreeing with him quite often.
He has a hide however having a crack at McGowan on this issue as it was he who put the stadium on the back burner when first elected and then disregarded all the preparatory work done by John Langoulant. He then digs a big hole big hole in the ground and closes a major road in the process. The three lane tunnel is a disaster waiting to happen, (it was never designed to be increased from two lanes) and has the gall to claim credit for infrastructure projects initiated by the previous government.
He is obviously feeling the pressure at the moment judging by his rants on the telly.

Haha im definitely not Barnett mate in fact ive never voted for the Liberal Party in my life I have always voted for Labor as have all of my family.
But I actually reckon Barnett is the sort of Premier WA desperately needs a bit like Kennett in Vic in the 90's someone who gets the place up & going otherwise your typical WA older generation of "I dont want change" & the older WA attitude of lets wait awhile & nothing will ever get done for the betterment of this place!
We have the $$$$ atm from our mining riches so lets make the most of it while we can.
The new Burswood Stadium & Elizabeth Quay I believe will be as great an attraction for Perth & WA as the Docklands precinct & Etihad Stadium are for Melbourne, & Darling Harbour & the Homebush sports precinct are for Sydney, as I have seen first hand what a massive impact those have had on their respective city's!
But no doubt the older generation WA naysayers will poo poo me as per usual ..as we just cant possibly have change over here in lil ol Perth WA!!

Agree...and the sooner the make FULL use of Glouster Park land and the carp park near it the better. Catering for 1000 people for a night per week at the trots on prime land is farcical.
Sydney moved the trots from Harold Prk nd Melbourne moved from Moonee valley, both out to outer suburbs...and of course the diehards will still attend the meetings ( as they would here i am sure).

Unka im also a trotting man & Perth trots draw more people to GP on a Friday night than Sydney & Melbourne trots do combined in their new "way out in the sticks tracks" at Menangle & Melton ..Gloucester Park is the envy of every other state in the trotting industry being in a central location, getting pretty decent crowds & competitve racing on a slightly smaller track ..but I think they have some long term plans to develop some of the land at GP that is under utilised while giving the track a spruce up as well ...Belmont Park on the other hand is on prime land, used for only 5 months of the year in the middle of Winter where 2 men & a dog attend racing & you have Ascot only 5 minutes up the road! A no brainer to be moved on but anyways we digress back to the stadium debate.......

Fair call.... i think we both are on the same track (pun unintended) with the usage of land for trots gallops or whatever tobe better utilized given its close proximity to the city and its surrounds. At lest the proposed stadium is a step in that direction.

Yeah mate totally agree with you ...all we need now is for the WA public to do the right thing in progressing this state into an exciting future & vote for Barnett even if he is an arrogant Claremont bloke at least he is moving this place forwards rather than backwards!!
