Its a stadium that 99% of its use will be for AFL games.

We have that now.

This is the same government that just refused to put money towards Liverpool FC visiting. If anything I see them as AGAINST putting Perth on the sporting map.

Why on earth would you put money towards an average privately owned pommy soccer team visiting Perth ...if they really want to come here they can afford it themselves!

I agree with that, much in the same way I think the AFL should probably pay for our new stadium.

That McGowan is a first class idiot! the thing that made me laugh the hardest is when he said that building 3 x swimming pools along the West Australian coast would solve the shark attack problems....this set the stage for me thinking he is an idiot!

Even tho I don't go to AFL games, the Burswood idea is better in the long term, a lot better area next to the river, freeways and trains, so you can get to the footy with a train, ferry or bus/car.

I believe the AFL should pay for the stadium. Andrew Demestos and his nibs sit on their arses and watch the tax payer fund infrastructure for our great game. Bollocks to em.

Surely you jest winger..
Did the NRL pay to build Stadium Australia, the SFS, Suncorp Stadium or Aami Park?
Did Cricket Australia pay for the MCG, Adelaide Oval or SCG redevelopments?
Did the NBL pay for Perth Arena?
Did the FFA pay for NIB Stadium, Aami Park, Suncorp Stadium, the SFS, Hindmarsh Stadium?
Did the ARU pay for the SFS, Aami Park, NIB Stadium, Canberra Stadium, Suncorp Stadium?

The AFL have tipped in $$$$ for the redevelopment of all the grounds that AFL games are played at.
At the end of the day almost all stadiums in Australia are government owned.

If WA people want to continue with the half arsed, second rate sporting stadiums we have had to put up with forever & a day then kitchener park is it & we will always be a laughing stock in the sporting world ...if we finally want a world class stadium to be proud to call our own then Burswood Stadium is the ONLY option!

...I will now be voting for the Libs & in fact I hope they destroy this NSW blow in & he pisses off back there
...McGowan couldnt run a bath let alone OUR state!

Yeah have a look at Labor in NSW at the moment - that gives you some idea of what you would be in for if this mob of idiots get in - he;s from NSW and will bring all the same corrupt crap here - they are a disgrace.

Why do people keep asking if Packer is going to chip in towards the stadium? Why does he need to chip in?

If the stadium is in Subiaco should we ask every restaurant, cafe and bar owner to chip in?

As far as location goes, it will be at Burswood. It is the best location it will start to provide us an entertainment hub we badly need.

Labor can talk about what they are going to do until the cows come home, they have bucklys chance of winning the election because most people do want Perth to advance and we now have a leader in Barnett who wants that to.

The ones who don't want Perth to advance will vote labor, have always voted labor and are the people who never want anything to change, anti everything.

With what the Libs have planned once they win this election which they will then I can see them in Government for the next 3 terms.

It is not just talk and ideas they are actually doing something.
Get this ridiculous one sided poll out of the way and then let them get on with it.

Senior Seagull wrote: Some people think the stadium can simply be dropped onto Kitchener park and it's not the case, like Burswood, there will need to be substantial infrastructure changes, like resuming 50 or so private residences so that Roberts Road can be diverted. Dont forget that Subi council have always had strict controls over how many night events can be staged at the stadium, 11 I think is the maximum per year to protect the amenity of the local residents because this is a prime residential area that really can well do without 40,000 people moving in and out let along 60,000. Burswood will have no such restrictions

Burswood is a designated entertainment precinct with dual highway access plus rail. Wherever the stadium was located, East Perth, Subiaco, Burswood or Cockburn it will benefit nearby businesses, in this case it happens to be Crown. lets not get carried away with unproven conspirisy theories, those of you with labor leanings should reflect on what your party did in the 80's before making unfounded accusations.

Reflect on building all the railways and freeways etc, yeh mate I always reflect on that!

PC they did great work with the north and south rail lines no question, my reference was to the current labor driven conspirisy theory's re Packer, compare that to the out and out corruption surrounding WA inc in the 80's.

I don't think he is Demons, he originally offered to put in 300 million or something when they were thinking of two stadiums there a few years back. But I think this one he has either not been asked, not offered or it has not come up.
