It is their job to oppose and keep the current government somewhat honest. They do not have to provide any alternative at all.
They keep saying no because everything the current comedy club does is a joke.
They know they will have to clean up the mess again so they try and keep the mess to a minimum. Unfortunately this time the mess might be bloody huge.
But they have cleaned up huge ones before as well.
Bring on September 14th, biggest landslide in political history.

Bullshit! They are the Alternative Govt and should provide alternatives, so far we have ZERO!

Thats the rub. They wont even need to put up alternatives to win your mob is sooooooo far behind.

I love watching you squirm

That there is the truth of the matter. In a different climate (ie perhaps if Rudd was still in) Abbott would have to work a bit harder to win the election.

It's a shame though because he is a clown and doesn't deserve the job but will probably get it by default.

Its great you think its a wonderful situation that we have a dud in parliament and a dud in waiting who doesn't have to try.

We don't know that Abbott is a dud yet? We do know that Julia is and Kevin was. So really whoever it is will always be heading in the right direction, you can't go lower than the existing comedy club.

Whilst I understand Abbott and Co can hold back their policies until campaign time, you do at least usually get a bit more comment from the opposition - even if just a hint at how they'd do things differently.

Look at Mcgowan since he came in - plenty to say - but fair enough he's playing catch up.

Its the complete negative blank wall I see in Abbott that worries me - he's just a Howard sycophant who stands for work choices and keeping the precious gst model the messiah invented as is.

But I admire your optimism for our future under him - I wish I had it.

Ok, they don't have many good ideas and they don't get many votes and they don't have much of a policy platform apart from the promotion of soccer but at least they're having a crack. :P

Or in Poland, The Beer Lover's Party - started off as having a bit of fun but turned into much more ... worth a read ....

State election is in March so sneakers has to start rolling policies out as opposed to feds in Sept... If Work Choices is the worst thing Abbott stands for then thats a blo*dy improvement on the incumbent rabble...bit I can tell you it won't happen because of the fear campaign from Labor and the unions last time Work Choices was raised. Abbott said its "...dead, buried, cremated..." or similar so can't see it making a comeback unlike "...there will be no carbon tax under a govt I lead..."

Firstly i think Turnbull would be the better leader but at the minute that will not happen.
As for optimism well I guess I look at it this way. The country always seems to do better when we have a Liberal Government.

Abbott has already said the Mining tax will go, the carbon tax will go. There is two things off the top of my head that he has said will be sorted out immediately.

The fact the Libs will have to waste time and energy removing two things that should never of been implemented just goes to show how much mess they will have to clean up.

I'd vote for the Beer Lovers party too ,but under our preferential system my vote would be eventually allocated to one of the two useless major parties so whats the point !

They've done a lot of damage to both the mining and cattle industries, time for them to move on..

I think governments should be changed every second term unless they are doing a very good job...and this current government does not deserve a third term.
