Gee, you've picked some great spots TF. Just goes to prove you don't necessarily have to jump on a plane to see magnificence.
We don't have the history of other countries (which I love), but we can match the rest of the world in grandeur.

All that is what makes it stand out from every other place in South America. The girls aren't bad and Oh, and the odd Nazi or two escaped there. They don't play AFL though - only thing missing. 5-Venzuela - interesting

Ahhhh yes La Hincha, the lovely Buenos Aires....lets not forget the asado & chimichurru...the only place in the world that seriously rivals the Uruguyuans for their ability to BBQ. My Argentinian mates call an Aussie style BBQ a "Cremation"

yo no hablo espanol, mas eu estou fluencia em Portugues!!!

Yeah mate, can't beat an Argentine asado. Best in the business.

Great that you can speak Portuguese. I have a heap of trouble with Castellano as the Argies call it. Will never quite come to terms with the usage of the words "lo" and "se". F**k I hate those words. What's wrong with just using "they", "its" "you" "thats".... :silly:

Don't worry trying to explain it to me if you know. People have tried but I'm too thick to understand. :( Lo obvio!

For mine I reckon Oz is the best place in the world, best thing about going OS is coming home I reckon ,,but anyway here's mine.

Santorini Greek Islands ( got married there)
London , just for the history, apart from that it's crap,
Berlin history once again amazing.
Scottish Highlands, something magical , also towns on North coast. Wick Thurso etc
Rome, been there a few times , still have not seen everything, don't call it the eternal city for no reason
Amalfi Coast, stunning, ( honeymooned there)
Seville Spain,,
Innsbruck Austrian Alps,,,
Grand Canyon, tie with Yosemite Nat Park,,probably the only things I liked in the US.
Kruger National Park South Africa,

We have some of the best places in the world right on our doorstep. You just have to get off the beaten track and find them.

I am a bit biased though always looking for water and somewhere to wet a line.

BC, I feel in love with Africa, I am a wildlife freak , Kruger was AMAZING..

We did safari drives morning and night and observed plenty, Rhino, elephant, Leopard, Girraffe even and Arkvark ( no joke).

Sadly poaching is taking a terrible toll on Rhino and Elephant lately, when I was there they were plentiful.

I also liked Pretoria (went to the rugby there - great night out) and Cape Town is great...

I drove from Pretoria, into Botswana( my car got chased by wild Ostrich in Bots) and up to Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls ( actually the falls should be on my list - mind blowing) .. I did a river trip on the Zambezi..and theres nothing like sinking a cold beers as a massive heard of Hippo bath near you!

A wild elephant got into out Hotel gardens during the night in Zimbabwi and detroyed a tree.

Would dearly love to go back - Kenya and Tanzania..

Also been to Morrocco, Tangiers would be the dodgiest place I have been.

are the stories around violent crime taking over in places like Joburg and Cape Town true in your opinion? I've spoken to plenty ex-pat Jaapies who reckon they wouldn't go back as it's too dangerous.

BC wrote: I was just reading something on a news website listing ten places which won't disappoint if you manage to get there. As it's a slow footy comment week on here I thought I'd start a new thread and if nothing else, posters might give us all some ideas on where to go next between footy seasons. For me in no particular order...

1. Petra Jordan
2. Abu Simbel Egypt
3. Ankor Wat Cambodia
4. New York City
5. Great Wall of China
6. Prague
7. Berlin
8. Hermitage St Petersburg
9. Dubrovnik
10. Juneau Alaska

Yep Great Wall is amazing, actually I liked Beijing.
Agree with Berlin and yep Prague is good.

Japan is an incredible place, I reckon if one place sticks in my mind its the A Bomb site at Hiroshima.

agreed bazza...my wife and I went to Japan a couple of years ago and the A bomb museum in Hiroshima is certainly an eye opener. we also went to Kyoto which was very pretty and bumping into geisha in Tokyo was a lot of fun as well. We've just got back from Sri Lanka and am looking at Iran some time this year. I believe its a fascinating place and very safe these days.
