This being the case - The Lib/Nat coalition has gone from 6 seats to 13. A 116% increase in seats.

Now to go from 53 to 6 in 2021 to - 46 to 13 in 2025 is a fair improvement I would say.

Further there were big sways towards the Libs in many other seats that didn't quite go their way - but the gap closed significantly.  

Another 116% increase in seats next election would see them coming close to carrying the day. Not quite - would actually need a 155% increase but 116% this time - why not 155% next time.

Saying all this why is it that every news outlet dammed the coalitions efforts on election day. 

I guess the Libs were expected to do better against a tired and arrogant government who can't stop spending taxpayer's money. I think they thought 11 seats would be the minimum outcome and 17 the maximum. Getting nowhere near that was a disappointment that's for sure but they were coming from a very low base.

A 17% swing away from Labor was encouraging but unfortunately it didn't go totally towards the Libs. Comments from Love and Basil earlier today about the parties working together is also cause for hope as I'll just about be ready to move out into the Nullarbor after another 4 years of Labor.

Oh was that expected just the Liberals alone and not the Lib/Nat coalition. Cause if it was just the Libs and they expected say 12 or 13 (in-between the high and low) they would be disappointed.

Not sure they expected it, but from my understanding the Lib's wish list was 12 seats.
They were never going to win government from such a long way back.
But it is a very good start.
Not sure they can win the next one either.
But what they do need to do is get rid of the idiots "clan" or whatever they are called. 
Then find some serious talent to contest for seats.
It may not be ideal, but I think Basil is the only choice.
At least he has a political experience albeit at Council level.

The liberals are now claiming Kalamunda. Apparently some of the ballots needed recounting which was done today.
