Got mine done today to avoid the shit show tomorrow. Was still a bit of a shit show in Guildford where parking was limited.

Hoping for a big upset but I guess realistically best we can hope for is a strong result for the Libs and Nats that will give them a real chance in 2029. Fuck, another 4 years of Labor.

Yes, agree DD. After the clusterfuck of 2021, I think a 10 to 15 seat swing will be a good result and set the Libs up for 2029.

They should have a bit more political experience by then to push this mob aside and put adults in charge who aren't going to spend on crap like movie studios, car race tracks and NRL teams.

This current Labor government is horrible and I don't think history will be kind when we'll be able to reflect on the wasted millions from a once in a generation opportunity to set this state and our grand kids up for the long term.

Whilst I cannot agree with some of your comments BC I think the infrastructure and other spending is all necessary and warranted. The bleat will be cost blow outs but find me a government in Australia that isn't suffering the same malaise, perhaps even in similar economies.

The one thing I want is for the nose not to get in, her will be just a termite when the thing we need is a for a strong and effective opposition. I actually feel for Mettam she is nearly a victim as that last liberal leader was! With a strong number and Mettam leading I think we could be much better off.

The other thing I would like the opposition to be is not as aggressive in their angst. It does little to promote them as effective politicians

As always I respect your views Grump, so I'd be interested to hear if you thought $1b on 27kms of road down south to save 20 minutes travelling time is money well spent. Also, $250m on a movie studio in Malaga, $2.5b on train lines to Yanchep and Ellenbrook which no-one uses.

$14b and rising on Metronet which will have a recurring operational funding shortfall of $1.3b each year which taxpayers will have to make up for the foreseeable future?

That means if you never ever take a train or a bus Grump, you're household is still expected to contribute $100 each year along with everyone else in this state which could be better spent on other things.

It seems these days, Cook and Saffioti are struggling to find things to spend taxpayers cash on and have lost all sense of priority, hence absurd plans like rock concerts, wrestlers, racetracks and NRL teams.

I could go on but I think you get my drift.

I do get your drift but then we have different views of the world and yes I said there was dross, but you then talk about cost increases and 'blame' when clearly a lot of this stuff is out of their control.  www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-01/energy-tr...on-blowout/104983108  is one example and the list goes on!

Blame is easy but does seem that understanding the issues is harder, How would you are argue that betty's bacterium and the bells are any more worthwhile! Perhaps now but when they were built and went over costs there was and should have been much bleating!

Oh well un a perfect world we would have an effective government with an equally effective opposition

State Labor have been ok ,without being great.
Hell of lot better than 2008-2017
Who entered government with a 4 billion dollar surplus. And left 8 years later with a 40 billion deficit.
Could of built Optus Stadium, Elizabeth Key,Stanley Hospital, Perth Childrens Hospital+Northern Suburbs rail extension. 3 times over to accumulate such debt.
Grated the GST rip of was on.But it looks like billions of dollars went missing.
They can stay in opposition for another 4 years.

Barnett had $50b in GST and royalties revenue over 2 terms GTR, whereas this government has received over double that since 2017 and haven't achieved anywhere near as much but have us in more debt than Barnett climbing to $41b in 2028. How does that work?

BC im not sure how much money the ALP gives the miners. But i do know that the contractors on the Forrestfield Rail Link.
The 16kms of underground tunnels+Ellenbrook rail robbed the state government blind.Given the billions of dollars,in thoes budget blow outs.
Thats why the CCI asked McGowan to stop major  infrastructure work in 2023.

That's because this government has the attitude of "what the heck, write a cheque" when it comes to infrastructure spending.  Labor has always been good at spending other people's money until it runs out and as for contract over-runs, if you can't manage contractors, then don't enter into an arrangement with them or at least, get someone involved who can.

Anyway GTR, it's out of our control so best of luck to both sides as we the taxpayer will need it whichever way the election cards fall.
