The Swans v Perth game last Sat had it all, raw footy played by real blokes who appreciate and love the game, and you could get up close and personal to watch it. Its an indictment that Dorro is spruiking his so called achievements, instead of promoting the WAFL as they have neglected for a decade or more.
And it says a lot about the survey that it was in The Channel Seven owned West who also are tied to the Eagles. How wqas it ever going to be an unbiased survey. Some of you on here are so down on the WAFL and negative i reckon the Mods should piss you off and you can go and find an AFL site to talk on, and that starts with you Wanchorman

What is your evidence it was a bias survey, and exactly how were the results manufactured and do you have a broader survey that challenges the results?

I had a quick look at the survey results. Were there questions about the best WAFL ground, toughest and best WAFL players? Was there a question to determine how many WAFL supporters support an AFL club?

Put simply if you were a supporter of the WAFL primarily or exclusively how many questions of the total would have been irrelevant? I supsect the overwhelming majority of the questions were written from an AFL perspective and as such it would been of little interest or appeal for a WAFL supporter to waste the time in filling it out.

There is a saying: lies, damn lies and statistics. Applies very well to the 'survey'.

what delusional miopic universe do you live in??? so you think a football survey should ingore AFL despite the fact that 40,000 turn up to watch the eagles and dockers and about 5000 people turn up to watch 4 WAFL games each week.

Hey Chris/Mr Negative/Bazza surely if it was a FAIR DINKUM football survey it would have included questions on all aspects/levels of football like S42 suggested not just the over hyped AFL by a paper with a vested interest in it ie 7/West sponsors both WCE & Freo & 7 telecast it! Quite obviously it has not done that so hence it gets the brickbats it deserves!

Maybe you should read the West more often.
Can't really comment if you didn't fill it out.

Says one who has constantly rabbited on about the WAFL alignment etc when they had NOT even read the fine points & also could not list 1 good thing Dorrington had achieved in 25 years for the WAFL yet reckons the bloke did a good job at the WAFC! :blush:
Pot calling the kettle black isnt it anchor?? B)

Yet again people are telling me something about myself that even I didn't know. Let me tell SD and BH you should be out with your crystal balls and making a fortune at the Midland markets every weekend.You know it all.Key board heroes who have nothing to do but bloody whinge.
All you had to do was log on line and do the survey boys,a simple thing to do even for you guys.
So BH if you don't follow the WAFL as closely as you that mean we don't live and breathe football.!!!!Time to come out of the time warp and see the roses.
I have probably seen more and will see more football that you will ever see.I was almost an old man when you started watching the game.Trouble is you got your head stuck so far up your clackers that you can't see they sun shine.

With all due respect A/man the vast majority of the AFL supporters who DID fill in the survey would know next to nothing about the WAFL. As such it is hardly an informed opinion of whether the alignment was good for the WAFL or not. As Swans didn't have a game on Saturday I was able to watch some of the ABC game on the TV. This included a halftime interview with one Grant Dorrington. What an interview it was!!!! The interview was significant insofaras he was:

(i) incapable or unwilling to identify any major achievements he had with respect to the WAFL;

(ii) he mentioned how he was involved when the Eagles, Dockers and Peel came into being. He spoke about the Eagles and the Dockers and was singularly silent when it came to Peel;

(iii) he was at pains to mention that he was but one of many when it came to decisions such as the rebranding of the WAFL to WestStar. 'It wasn't his fault'.

Finally, perhaps those who have a keen interest in the WAFL and are cognisant of its proud history do not want it to go the way of the VFA/VFL.

The fact that most people (the footy public or as you call them AFL followers) know nothing about WAFL - I agree with, but swan what does that tell us, the first priority for most people in this state is the eagles or dockers, surely you can accept that, most punters dont rush down to bassendean or fremantle oval to watch training or down the shops to read the wafl results in the paper or watch the news for the ins and outs for south freo on friday night or read the subi stats in the sundays times anymore, they want info on the eagles and dockers, sad fact but true, its not 1980 anymore and clock will not turn back.

Bazza I don't think any WAFL supporter believes we will return to the halcyon days of the 1980s. However, what most of us believe is that the WAFL can remain as a viable competition if it is supported by the WAFC and the AFL. What we believe is that contrary to helping the WAFL there are active members of the WAFC, AFL and media who are doing the exact opposite.

If you saw the Dorrington interview it is patently clear that he and his cronies in the WAFC have no interest in supporting the WAFL. They are completely subordinate to their masters in the AFL.

Swan I agree 100% percent with you there is no doubt the WAFC and AFL have no interest in the WAFL...And I agree with you 100% on Dorrington,, mate I am on the same page as you ...what I am saying is the vast majority of people have far different prioroties to us, the WAFL means Nada to them, the WAFC reflect the community sentiments, the money and media go with market and the market is not WAFL...mate the ABC last figures shows thet out of a statewide pouplation of over 2 Million only 20,000 tune into WAFL on ABC each week now. Yet AFL ratings on Fox and 7 are already up 13% this year...these are the realities some on here need to grasp, You can moan all you want about the Survey but it cant stop a tidal wave.

I would have liked to have filled out the survey but I didn't see it advertised. I only read the West on Sat morning for the final teams.

There is better WAFL information to read here on this site so I don't read the West on most days.

Poor old Chris ..you having a bad day champ? :lol:
You are obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed as can be seen by your daily internet drivel but if you cannot see that the AFL is over hyped by the electronic & print media because they have a vested interest in it eg ratings, selling newspapers, internet hits etc when it is nowhere near as good a standard of the 80's & 90's football then you are even more thicker than I thought previously!
