Well sadly for SD it won't be Cam Shepherd....signed on for another 2 years at Peel...apparently John Ditchburn says Cam has done wonders promoting and developing local talent down in Mandurah....LOL

Paul Douglas?

Nope

My comment was very much tongue in cheek; I might be closer with my pm.

Amazingly RD believes the same as Ditchburn Freeze!! ;)
A whole 3 from the Peel region played in the 2nd Semi (ROB, Bell & Hancock) whilst dropping a young star from the region in Naughton for no reason other than to fit more Fremantle folk in.
Thank fark neither of those 2 named above are in the running to coach our club as we continue on our path of giving local district kids a pathway to play League footy for the mighty black and whites!

TBH BH I'm amazed Cam wasn't at the top of the wish list of the new coach selection panel. His ability to look straight in to the camera lens and talk absolute tripe might have come in handy.

DW I am simply appalled that you don't give credit where credit is due. WE ALL KNOW that it is the quality of the non-AFL aligned players and the quality of the Peel coaches that won the 2016 WAFL GF and have qualified for the 2017 WAFL GF.

To suggest anything else flies in the face of the alternate facts paradigm.

Season has been over for a week and no announcement from the club re a new coach. The applied mathematician inside me suggests that we can narrow the field down to somebody who is still involved in the finals space at either AFL or WAFL level. So who is it gonna be?? Anybody prepared to guess out loud?
Honestly have no idea who is in the firing line. The club is playing its cards very close to the chest. Lets hope they decide soon before the sun kicks in proper and this old frame goes on an Ozfooty vacation for a couple of months in "Summer 42" style.

Congrats also to Peter Hodyl retaining the President position unopposed....a great re-appointment.

The article in the West about the Colts coaches made it sound like they have an experienced coach with AFL and WAFL experience- thats how I read it. I'd say that as it hasn't been announced they are either 1) Still involved in finals or 2) they haven't decided.

Is it possibly a Freo development coach? Or West Coast??

Exactly that Ark, assumptions. Am I happy about it, not sure tbh. I've been vocal on here in support of Cooper because I believe he can help with bringing a new gen of players through which is exactly where the club is at right now. If not him then thinking about who else will suit our future with a modern style of coaching it is probably Pickering. Reports on him have been pretty good from the EP folk I have chatted with. As for blokes at the club already I'm not sure if they fit this mould but understand Malaxos is extremely experienced so will be considered. Armstrong I know little about..maybe others who know his style better could comment. What will be interesting is if people who are already at the club don't get the gig will they stick around or are we in for a complete reshuffling of the decks. Can only imagine someone with no previous affiliation to the club coming in will need some serious assistance with a list that is going to need immediate rejuvenating or we are in for a few long years. Our youth is the absolute key to our future with the financial position of the club in these times and a coach that can nurture young men and bring the best out of them is essential.

By the way Ark, apologies for the slow response...grinding away at work all day
